The Securities Appellate Tribunal, or SAT, has set aside Sebi's 2006 order against Goldman Sachs Mauritius, reports CNBC-TV18. It has over turned Sebi's fine of Rs 1 crore on Goldman Sachs and instead asked the markets regulator to pay Rs 1 lakh to Goldman Sachs.
The case is a loss of face for the regulator since the Tribunal has stated: "We cannot appreciate the response of the Adjudicating Officer and cannot but deprecate his conduct."
