Nifty ends above 4150: Realty, Power, Bank surge

It was very good day for the market, as bulls had an upper hand throughout the day. The BSE Sensex closed near it psychological 14000 mark and Nifty closed above 4150. All BSE sectoral indices ended in positive. Realty, power, bank, FMCG, capital goods, IT and oil & gas stocks witnessed good buying interest. After yesterday’s 176 points loss on the Sensex, it has rebounded strongly in opening trade following positive cues from global markets, which had surge on the back of fall in crude price to USD 136 per barrel from all time high of USD 146 per barrel. But following Iran test firing a missile, crude has rebounded from USD 136 levels to USD 137.66 per barrel on the Nymex. The Sensex was up 614.61 points or 4.60% at 13964.26, and the Nifty was up 168.55 points or 4.23% at 4157.10. About 2219 shares have advanced, 690 shares declined, and 234 shares are unchanged. Reliance Infra, Jaiprakash Asso, Tata Motors, ITC, Reliance Comm and TCS were top gainers on the Sensex. The BSE midcap and small cap indices were up 2.91% and 3.46% respectively. The BSE realty index was up 6.06% or 280.18 points at 4901.16. Peninsula Land, Omaxe, Unitech, Anant Raj Ind, HDIL and Indiabulls Real surged. The BSE power index closed up 5.39% or 125.53 points at 2455.87.Lanco Infratech, Reliance Infra, Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy and Power Grid Corp gained. The BSE bankex ended up 4.87% or 287.39 points at 6183.53. Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra, Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Union Bank and ICICI Bank spurted up. The BSE capital goods index ended up 4.70% or 510.62 at 11364.76. Bharat Elec, Alstom Projects, Suzlon Energy, Lakshmi Machine, ABB and Punj Lloyd moved up. The FMCG index was up 4.61% or 90.05 points at 2042.38. ITC, United Spirits, Dabur India, HUL, P&G gained. The BSE oil & gas index closed up 4.46% or 389.74 points at 9133.10. Essar Oil, BPCL, GAIL, Reliance and Petronet LNG flared up. The BSE IT index was up 4.30% or 174.12 points at 4220.07. Aptech, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Infosys and HCL Tech closed in green. The BSE auto index ended up 3.08% or 107.64 points at 3606.02. Tata Motors, Escorts, Hind Motors, Tube Investment, Bajaj Auto, Hero Honda moved up. The BSE metal index was up 3.06% or 375.84 points at 12645.62. SAIL, Jindal, Ispat ind, Jai Corp and NMDC gained. The BSE healthcare index closed up 1.58% or 64.74 points at 4155.12. Wyeth, Cadila, Novartis India Biocon, Glennmark and Matrix Labs ended positive. Turnover traded by markets stood at Rs 64923.44 crore. This includes Rs 11936.80 crore from NSE Cash segment, Rs 47907.81 crore from NSE F&O and the balance Rs 5078.83 crore from BSE Cash segment. Market Snapshot
