With pricing of motor insurance set to be freed, insurance firms are looking for ways that would enable them price the risk. And one of the criteria, believe it or not, could be the level of the car owner’s testosterone reports Economic Times.

Rating factors currently used in other countries to fix premia include the address of the insured, whether he’s a smoker, and so on. In most countries, insurers insist that drivers of cars be named in the policy and ask for personal information relating to the driver.

However, in India, the insurance industry cannot discriminate in pricing among policyholders, whether the person is a college student or a 60-year-old lady. Policies in India do not even name the vehicle drivers.
