Reliance Industries top boss Mukesh Ambani is in the capital currying favour in the corridors of power. Ambani is believed to have met the Prime Minister and the Cabinet Secretary this afternoon. He is slated to meet UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi later this evening.

What does Mukesh Ambani's visit mean coming in the wake of the changed political equations at the Centre?

He apparently met the PM and the Cabinet Secretary. He was also expected to meet Sonia Gandhi. We do not have independent confirmation of the same. But there were a series of meetings lined up.

It is interesting enough that Mukesh Ambani chose to come to the capital with senior government functionaries at a time when the Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh has launched a tirade on an entire range of economic issues, which actually adversely impact RILs business plan.

The entire range of talks from windfall profits tax to EOU was discussed. Ambani apparently did present his side of the case. We also understand that he reportedly said that it is in corporate India’s interest that the nuclear deal be signed between India and the US.
