Focussing on outsourcing of engg services: Eicher Motors

Siddhartha Lal, CEO & MD of Eicher Motors says that the biggest challenge for them in the engineering services now is to really get the outsourcing business model in shape. He says that this could be a revolution in engineering services outsourcing.

Excerpts from CNBC-TV18’s exclusive interview with Siddhartha Lal:

Q: You have embarked on an exercise of restructuring, are things in place for the company?

A: Yes, we are doing that. We are concentrating on making Eicher Motors Ltd a very focused company. We have a components business and an engineering services business.

We want to give Royal Enfield a chance to really flourish and get out on its own. For that we need to get in some good technology and probably some more capital.

Q: How is the capital going to come in? There were talks that you might be brining in a foreign partner- can you comment on that.

A: We are definitely looking for a partner. But we are still working on who the partner will be and from where will he come.

Q: How soon will you be making announcement on the Royal Enfield?

A: I don’t know yet, we are working on it. Hopefully, we should get things done.

Q: Give us a ballpark timeframe?

A: I hope within next few months we should get things a bit more organized.

Q: Have you identified partners?

A: We have identified potential partners. We have been working with some people but we are not at a stage where we can disclose anything.
