I am a seasoned investor and have been in the market for approximately 29 years. "Play in the market in such a way that we donot GET OUT of the market-- Market will remain there but whether we are IN the market or not - This is an important question"

After brutal meham in the market, PNB Gilts has today closed at Upper Circuit both at BSE and NSE. Real juice is its Book Value which is around Rs.35. However, an irrational market leaves everyone baffled. People will buy or sell a Mutual Fund instrument at its book value but investors will turn away PNB Gilts @ 50% discount !!!!!!!! Cheers !!!!!! ...

Very badly. In fact, it gives a lesson that anything is possible in the short-term. Inspite of your having chosen a very good basket of scrips. All your eggs of the basket may look rotten and you donot have any option but to throw them out. You can`t even prepare and enjoy the omlette. Cheers !!!! But please remember that Board has announced buy-back programme from the stock exchange upto Rs.275/- per share. It may get through in coming days. Once company starts buy-back, there will be strength in the scrip. Already promoters and FIIs and FIs holding is quite substantial i.e.88.59%. Downside is quite limited. Sum of parts of different businesses under its fold is very sizeable and valuable. For example, it holds around 20% equity of Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. and 80% of Godrej Properties Ltd. Recovery will be sharp. ...

There is some relationship between the gilt market and stock market. Normally if the stock market is down, gilt market should be up as it considered a safe investment. However, one thing I can see that in coming months it is expected that interest rate will go down because of various cuts by RBI. Effectively gilt prices will be up. Please do not forget that Book value of PNB Gilts is more than Rs.35/- even after adjusting dividend and first quarter loss(which is just notional). It\\`s just a matter of time, no one can time the market, before some decision is taken regarding divestment or merger. PNB can only delay the process but it cannot reverse the process. It\\`s well decided that there is no use keeping a subsidiary of PNB for gilt business and this vertical can very well be taken care of by PNB only. In case of merger BV will be very important. Have patience, once you are in the \\\\...

Which account you r referring? Is it your a/c with broker or PNB Gilts has remitted in your bank account? Normally if the shares have been purchased very late around book closing and could not be transferred to your demat a/c - dividend will be received by the broker and hence broker credits the dividend immediately after the book closing is over. Other possibility is if the shares are in the margin a/c, broker credits the dividend to your account maintained with him. Cheers !!!!! ...
