Mandakini Coal Block Valuation - I was a reading a research report by a reputed brokerage firm which valued Tata Power mandakini coal block allocation alone at about Rs. 3000 crores. And the same holds good with Jindal Photo as they have equal share in it. The only point here is that they need to start mining within 4 years from the allotment date. In that period they need to acquire lands which are bit difficult nowadays but the same holds good for Tata Power and Monnet Ispat. Since they are a consortium, I dont think there can be any delay past the 4 years time. Coal prices are going thru the roof in international markets. Whereas in India, Coal India Limited has said they will not raise prices till 2009 end. At the time of mining after 4 years, their coal block valuation could still raise further. Not many companies have been allotted coal blocks.

Another point to consider is even though current Color Film business may not have bright future, still they are generating enough cash. If they continue with PAT of Rs. 40 crores for the next 3 years, they will be sitting on twice the current market cap with cash equivalents. ...

I am also tracking Jindal India Thermal Power. One point to be strongly considered is they\\`ve got COAL reserve allotment which itself should be sufficient to run a 1000 MW plant for 15 years. Unlike other companies who depend on other coal companies for supply. Public consultation have been held regarding Environment and Pollution issues. So far I assume, they have\\`nt got the Environment clearance. Also land acqusition should\\`nt be as easy as it seems. In one place they\\`ve mentioned that they will be utilizing the FLY ASH collected from the power plant to manufacture cement.

Definately this company does\\`nt deserve a price of Rs. 138. But maybe investors want to wait for the project the actually start and then jump into this stock.

I dont think 25% share buy back is a possibility. Because the company has allotted only Rs. 150 crores for it. So in order for the company to acquire 25% the company need to buy at a price of Rs. 215 or below.

Given the strong quarterly results and capacity expansion I strongly feel that the share price can't go to that level or atleast can't stay there for long. Atleast thru this buyback announcement the downside from here is very limited. ...
