Ntpc Limited has informed the Exchange that "A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on December 01, 2008 amongst NTPC Ltd., NHPC Ltd., Power Grid and DVC to form a Joint Venture Company to set up with equal equity participation an "Online High Power Test Laboratory" (OHPTL) for short circuit testing facility. Presently, manufacturers and utilities are sending their equipments to overseas testing labs which is not only time consuming but expensive too. The OHPTL facility will test power transformers, LT/HT Switchgears, bus-ducts, CTs etc".

NTPC had touched an intraday high of Rs 161.70 and an intraday low of Rs 151.25. At 2:51 pm, the share was quoting at Rs 160.50, up Rs 6.85, or 4.46%. It was trading with volumes of 2,233,438 shares. Yesterday the share closed up at Rs 153.65.
