undue advantage of the county`s secular credentials to
undermine its very base. It is a multi national business
venture only. In a free society, there is no bar to learning
the good aspects of other religions, without going through
forcible conversions and breaking up of family and society.

2. Hold it as a crime publishing hate literature of the type the
missionaries are dishing out.


You will find that there will be total reciprocation from the majority.

I told you it is not idol worship - it is worship of the all pervasive God, who is in the idol also. We hold Brahman is everywhere.

Please do understand what I said is perfectly permitted and helps meditation. Over a period, the seeker gets over this also and experiences the impersonal brahman. There is a vast system provided in Sanathana dharma which probably is alien to your religion.

I am sure someday you will understand the value of this time tested ancient system laid down by great rishis of yore.

the convert should forget everything about his pedigree, as they themselves did about the history of pre-christian society to which they belonged for generations. BTW do they do any research and find out their anticidents - or they permitted to do so?

I have seen this in African countries. What they did in Rhodesia (now Zambia and Zimbabwe), South Africa is well documented.

You have quoted from Washington Post. While staying in USA, WP was my favourate newspaper, to spend time. In the more than a kg wt. paper, no news about india. But if you go the county library you can get any number of books on Amercian history. Go through those books. Their history covers last two centuries mainly - very recent under indian standards. During this period,what an amount of atrocities the white men and missionaries inflicted on the original owners of the land - the red indians. All to spread the Gospal and snatch the land of the Red indians. In this project of civilising the natives, all christian denominations played great roles - directed by the Pope and every head of the denomination. I recalled what I read and heard about the atrocities played by missionaries in Goa, under directions of the Vatican, of course. You call it civilisation and in the service of the only true LORD !!!

When an idol worshiper worships an idol, he is worshiping a God that is represented by the idol. This explains why we have so many thousands of temples for different kinds of hindu Gods and why each hindu God is distinct from the other interms of looks and properties. For eg: When hindus worship the hindu god Ganesha, they truly believe that there is indeed a god with the shape and form of elephant with a human body. When hindus worship the hindu god shiva, they truly believe that there is indeed ANOTHER god who lives in mountains and has a snake wrapped around his head. I totally agree with you 100% that Vedas speak of a formless god. my question is that when the Vedas speak of a formless god, aren`t people going against their religion by giving a human interpretation to this formless god. Ask any knowledgeable Hindu (and by knowledgeable Hindu, i am referring to someone who has knowledge of the religious scriptures), whether he believes in the concept of ONE god and he would say yes. Ask him to start worshiping this one God and he says --tata bye bye, see you later . We need to understand that monotheism and polytheism are NOT synonyms, they are antonyms. How can one claim to be a Hindu and then go totally against the vedas ? This same phenomenon is seen in Christianity where, idol worship is strictly prohibited and yet, you cant find a church without an idol of Christ ? ...

Dear arg s let me continue the theme further. You said earlier on... ALL HIGHER RELIGIONS PROCLAIM THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD. Higher religion means the subtle essence of religion as against lower level meaning the detailed formal aspects of the same religion. SANATHANA DHARMA proclaims BRAHMAN alone exists. It is subtle, omnipotent, omniscient. It is formless, unmanifested, limitless, ever existing, sat chit and ananda - and BEYOND DEFINITION. The moment you start definining and giving a form, so that you can understand and worship, you give a name. These different manifested forms are apparently different, but ESSENTIALLY ONE. Just because you call by different name, in different languages, God does not become different. When there is no TWO, there is no comparison, and no quarrel about my god and your god and who is big and who is more big. You can chose any form for the formless one according to your taste and upbringing and clothe in any manner you like if that helps you to offer your prayers sincerely and you derive satisfaction. IN DUE COURSE U WILL OUTLIVE THIS CONCEPT ALSO (like the ancient sages did u will forget the material world and meditate only on god)). The sages saw Brahman every where and in everything, just invoke God and offer your prayers. One is not worshipping the idol,one worships the brahman manifested in the idol. THIS IS A HIGH PLANE OF THINKING which comes later on and must have taken thousands of years. But in the case of christianity and islam the people there were in Ist standard(to use an analogy) and they were appropriately taught by god thro the relevant prophets. It will take several thousands of years for them to come to the level of ancient sages of india and to have such THOUGHT PROCESSES. Every religion is agreed that god created the world and he is the only ONE for all. So all creatures in this world are also his creation. Then Why do they have various forms? Why some are plants? Why some are animals? Why some are birds and why some are vermin or insects? AND WHY SOME ARE HUMAN BEINGS? Why did god not create all human beings alike in their understanding and perception? WHY IS THERE EVIL AND GOOD among human beings? There must be a purpose behind what he has done and is doing. PROBABLY THOUSANDS OF YEARS INTO THE FUTURE A DAY WILL COME WHEN MAN WILL ATTAIN THE HIGHEST PLANE OF THINKING AND EVERY HUMAN BEING SEES GOD IN ANOTHER HUMAN BEING and that may be the END OF THE WORLD OR THE BEGINNING OF A NEW ONE. As I told jeet597 I believe in one god that is krishna and the bhagwad gita (wherein he says worship any god i will give u the fruits thro that god) and have no quarrel with the thousands of gods worshipped for to EACH PERSON HIS GOD IS THE GOD AND TO SOME ALL GODS ARE GODS. Dear arg s, U can make some one understand only if he is receptive to understanding just as there is vast difference between studying and learning. Is ur mind free? Is it receptive ? Now here also there can be any number of interpretations but the most common would be receptive to what? Right ideas right thinking or wrong ideas and wrong thinking. When one is conditioned to looking at things only from one angle the other angles are invisible. The fundamental concept is what is the ultimate. rotg has been conditioned by his religion to believe that Mohammed is the last prophet and therefore that is and includes everything final. Getting into that debate would be endless for it is acknowledged that Mohammed was illiterate and so who noted down what he recited? According to many it was a jew and there are lots of stories behind it which i would not like to go into at this juncture. Not all sects of muslims believe that Mohammed is the last prophet, if i am right one sect is waiting for the arrival of Mahdi. More of essence is why were difft prophets sent to difft regions of the earth? That is bec some sections of the earth had got into such degeneration that they required a certain type of shock treatment. By all accounts the state of affairs in arabia was such where idols were worshipped and all sorts of wrongs were being committed in the name of this or that idol. So came islam through the prophet mohammed to abolish all idols in that region.That is why islam also says not to force others into believing their religion whereas the practice is vice versa and they want that to be the only religion and if god desires it IT WILL BE SO. Could Mohammed have done anything if he had propounded the oneness of god inspite of the numerous type of idols to the people then living who were worst then beasts and who used to kill their own daughters?Certainly not. It takes a higher plane to worship an idol or idols believing god is manifested in them(not they are god)and the people inhabiting arabia at that time could never be thought of on those lines.So a new religion was needed for those people with idols gone lock stock and barrel for there was no other way out of the mess. As u said when u see a stone u dont see a lion and when u see a lion u dont see the stone. But that is beyond them to understand for then they would be forsaking their religion is what they feel. It was meant for the arabs of those times and the jews of those times for their plane was much much lower as compared to mankind in general. What is more essential is that r u worshipping god or that idol. Only if he can UNDERSTAND prahlads story he can understand the half man half animal, the dusk et al. What was the essence of the story ? Not the half man half animal but that if it is necessary to destroy evil god will take any form or can take any form, god is timeless, and god is OMNIPRESENT ALSO IN ADDITION TO BEING OMNIPOTENT AND OMNISCIENT.
