The Central Board of Direct Taxes today said that tax payers can make electronic payment of taxes from the account of any other person. However, the challan for making such payment must clearly indicate the Permanent Account Number of the taxpayer on whose behalf the payment is to be made. Further, it has clarified that companies and other large tax payers will be required to pay all taxes including tax deducted at source, electronically from April 1, 2008. TOI-
