Dear Mickey59,
,,Konde,, is ,,Horn,, in kannada, horn as in a rhino.
When I joined college at the age of 16 I used to
tie my hair in a way that it looked like a horn on
my head, the way most Sardars due when they are young.
Even though I shifted to a turban at age 19, the nick name
hung on. KONDE....LOL

Hey kanda_usa...... No use of that law...... I don`t think it`s enforced at any stage......It just remains as only a law......Neither people are following it nor the govt.enforcing it I think may be due to the fear of losing votes......Actually that law was introduced when mu.ka.stalin was trying to beautify chennai..ROFL...

Hi Ramki, I know that you are a very jovial person as I have been reading you here for a long time. I even have talked to you a few times couple of years back when some decent writing good boarders like feltra, kfactor, morningstar and periwinkle were around here. I also want to tell you that I never knew that there was a no spitting law in Chennai which really surprised me. Dow at one point was down by 800 points before settling 370 lower and Nikkei is already down by 500 points. I hope Sensex doesn`t fall as much as it did yesterday.

HEALTH Minister Anbumani Ramadoss has been making a serious effort to legalise homosexuality in India. His reason: The country should recognise the increasing acceptance of homosexuality worldwide because such tolerance would ensure "an effective fight against AIDS."

Under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which was established under British rule in 1860, homosexuality is a crime that carries a punishment of life in prison.

So, effectively this law makes it illegal for a physician to treat Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), as well as for a health care worker to advise MSM about HIV.

What are your thoughts on this?? ...

Nano to drive from Gujarat: Is Modi the most progressive CM?

New Delhi: Within days of moving out of West Bengal, Tata Motors have decided to drive the Nano project to and from Gujarat. This development comes after Tata scouted many sites including some in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Tata Motors Chairman Ratan Tata and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will make an announcement on Tuesday evening in a joint press conference.

The Tatas have chosen Sanand, close to Ahmedabad, as the project site. The site is located within the 2,200-acre Anand Agriculture University campus.

Sources say things are moving fast at the government front for the transfer of 1,000 acres of land to the Tatas.

Modi, who also completes seven years in office on Tuesday, will have a discussion with his Cabinet colleagues before finalising the deal.

Tata gone, West Bengal wonders who to blame

Forum: Is Modi the most industry-friendly CM?

Sources also confirm if things go according to plan, the deal will be finalised by Tuesday itself. Importantly, Modi is said be willing to roll out concessions to the Tatas in order to clinch the project.

While he was against giving concessions to industry, in the case of Nano project the Chief Minister is said to be ready to make an exception.

The new project site was finalised on Tuesday evening after yet another visit by the Tata Motors officials, who in the last few days had scouted for possible locations in many other states.

Ever since the Tatas faced political resistance in West Bengal for their project at Singur various state governments, including Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, were in the race to woo Tatas to set the manufacturing facility for the cheapest car in the world.

Los Angeles: A man distraught because he could not find work shot and killed his mother-in-law, his wife and three sons and then killed himself inside a home in an upscale San Fernando Valley neighborhood, police said.

Authorities said the man was an MBA in finance but appeared to have been unemployed for several months and had worked for major accounting firms, such as Pricewaterhouse, police said.

The two-story rented home is in a gated community in Porter Ranch, about 20 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

The shootings were discovered after 0820 hrs (GMT) on Monday, after a neighbor called police officers to report that the wife had failed to pick her up to take her to her job at a pharmacy, Deputy Chief of Police Michel Moore said.

Ed Winter, assistant chief from the Los Angeles County Coroner`s Office, identified the suspect as Karthik Rajaram, 45.

He said the victims included Rajaram`s mother-in-law, Indra Ramasesham, 69, and his 19-year-old son Krishna Rajaram, a Fulbright Scholar and honor student at UCLA.

Also dead were Rajaram`s wife, 39, and their two other sons, 12 and 7. Some of the victims had been shot more than once and their identities were not immediately confirmed, he said.

"Due to the nature of their injuries, it`s been a little difficult," Winter said. There were no signs of struggle, he said.

Police first found the mother-in-law shot in her bed in a downstairs bedroom, Moore said.

Upstairs, the couple`s eldest old son was shot in the master bedroom; the wife in another bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head; the two younger sons in the bedroom they shared, both shot in the head. The 12-year-old was on the floor and the 7-year-old in bed, Moore said.

The suspect was also in that bedroom, a gun still in his hand.

The killings are thought to have occurred after 6 p.m. Saturday, when the man was last reported seen, Moore said.

Inside the house, police also found three letters, one to law enforcement acknowledging responsibility for the killings, a second to friends and relatives and a third that appears to be the suspect`s will, Moore said.

"He attests to some financial difficulties, and he takes responsibility for the taking of the lives of his family members and himself as a result of those financial difficulties," Moore said.

Neighbors, family and friends told police that the suspect, who had not worked for several months, had said in recent days he was having had extreme financial difficulties, Moore said.

One of the letters, intended for friends and marked "personal and confidential," detailed his financial transactions that resulted in "an unfortunate, downward spiral," Moore said.

"His narrative is one of talking about this tragedy befalling him and his contemplation of an available exit or solution," Moore said. "One is taking his own life and the other is taking the lives of his family and himself. ... He talked himself into the second strategy, believing that was in effect the honorable thing to do."

Moore said the several-page narrative appeared to have been written over a period of time. "This was something that was not a spur-of-the-moment type of event," he said.

Moore said it was clear to police that the family members were close and "had an affection for each other." He said the parents had given up their master bedroom to their eldest -- who was spending the weekend home from college -- "out of respect."

"This is a perfect American family behind me that has absolutely been destroyed, apparently because of a man who just got stuck in a rabbit hole, if you will, of absolute despair, somehow working his way into believing this to be an acceptable exit."

No neighbors reported having heard gunshots, and there was no sign of forced entry at the house, Moore said.

Rajaram was involved in a financial holding company as part owner "at least," Moore said.

There is no evidence he had had any history of mental difficulties, nor was there an indication he had sought counseling, Moore said.

Neighbor Trish Harrison, who lives three houses from the crime scene, said the family had lived in the community for about a year, but kept to themselves and had little interaction with neighbors. The parents were from India, she said.

The Los Angeles Unified School District was making arrangements for crisis counselors to visit the schools attended by the two younger sons.

Look! Now we have hindu terrorists too, in the name of religion, in India.
Hindus turning to terrorism while killing and raping christened tribals to reconvert them to hinduism is purely fanatical and is atrributable to government inaction or (delibrate) inability to control muslim and other terrorists(who take pride in calling themselves jehadis wiping out kafirs).
Whoever incite these fools fearing extinction of their religion (logic given by even educated people)to resort to wiping out people following other religions are themselves not religious.
The present times are somewhat similar to times of Jagatguru Shri Adi Shankaracharya.
Shankara took avataran to alleviate confusions created by multiple religios thoughts and lack of clear direction towards the path of GOD.
HE held numerous phillosophical discussions with various prominent religious gurus beat them with HIS arguments and convinced them with HIS phillosophy thus removing ignorance and gave a clear understanding of the path to GOD.
It seems that only a new avtaran of Shankara can save the earth from religiously misguided terrorists
