Ministry of home affairs reponsible for internal security has to be as competitive as Ministry of external affairs.
Winning over terrorism is not a task of few days, still US has proven how to tackle it as there has not been even a single incidence there, now....

that is obvious. They are not fool to wait to be caught by security. They are mastermind and people only can throw them out of the country. India should stop alloting visa for pakistanis as pakistan behaviour will not improve and they don`t understand good language. They should be tought a lesson by destroying it.

Yes ur understanding is right there r 2 separate agencies in india each with a differant job to handle on paper.

NSG - National Security Guards - To counter terrorist attacks & plane Hijacks....

In case of NSG, I put it as POLITICIANS Security Guards (PSG), just to show my anger like all of u but with a humorous note.

A woman (mis)quoting from bhagwatgita, prefers to spell Krishna as Krsna (ISCON way), quoting from kamsutra, calls herself a progressive forward is a joke. Madam, whatever your quotes on Bhagvadgita & Kamsutra are there indicates that you must be Osho(Rajnish) follower. No harm in that because you are in India & not Saudi Arabia....

Chemkiron,

If you quote advani you become BJP chief??? what an absurd post.

I think u have a problem with progressive forward thinking action oriented women. If u have such problems in India you will have to suffer alone.. you should perhaps think of settling down in countries were women accept a docile role, then you can establish your supremacy over all u survey easily... no use taking shots at me this way

If I remember correctly, during the prime minstership of Lal Bahadur Shastri, there was war between Pak and India.Pak was marching towards India on two fronts. Instead of defending on those two fronts, our Army opened third front and pak was defeated. OFFENCE IS THE BEST DEFENCE. We should pay Pak in the same coins. Indian army should train 1000 human bombs and with their help, training and breeding camps in POK and Pakistan should be destroyed. If a nation of 1 billion people cannot have resources to do this, do we have right to to remain INDEPENDENT?...

New Delhi: The US may have used its considerable diplomatic clout to gain India entry into the nuclear club and France may have signed a deal regarding the sale of nuclear reactors to the country, but Russia will be the first to sell four reactors to India after the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) cleared nuclear commerce with India two months ago.
India and Russia will sign an agreement to this effect on Friday, during the three-day visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, his first to India since taking over as President in March.
The four reactors, each with a capacity to generate 1,000MW, will be constructed at Koodankulam in Tamil Nadu, where Russia is already constructing two reactors, each of 1,000MW capacity, for a power plant.

India has also agreed to identify another location for a nuclear power plant that will be built by Russia, a government official, who did not want to be identified, said.
The agreement between Russia and India to this effect has been ready for a year, but it couldn’t be signed and ratified because India is yet to sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, which allows the transfer of sensitive civilian nuclear technology.
Dmitry Medvedev
To be sure, India is yet to sign the treaty, but the waiver by the 45-member NSG, which controls the export and transfer of nuclear material and technology, has now made it possible for the two countries to sign the nuclear deal.
Russia is a member of NSG and while the US lobbied for a waiver for India, it will be Russia that reaps the first commercial benefits of this waiver.
Medvedev’s visit to India is part of a process of annual summits between India and Russia put in place some years ago, not only to promote the relationship between the two countries, but also to sort out several disputes relating to defence, trade and economy.
For instance, on the eve of Medvedev’s visit, Russia agreed that the dispute between Russian company Technoprom Exports and NTPC Ltd over the supply of boilers would be sorted out through a process of adjudication.
India briefed Russia’s deputy prime minister Alexander Zhukov on the adjudicator’s report, which was submitted on Monday and which states that the two sides should resolve the matter together. Zhukov agreed that the Russian company would adhere to the Indian adjudicator’s advice, the government official added.
Zhukov was in New Delhi to participate in the 14th session of the India-Russia inter-governmental commission, which is co-chaired by him and India’s foreign minister Pranab Mukherjee.
The government official clarified that there was “no linkage” between the resolution of the Technoprom-NTPC dispute and India’s interest in buying a 20% stake in the enormous Sakhalin-3 gas field in Russia.

Islamabad, Dec 04: US told Pakistan it has evidence of LeT’s involvement in last week’s Mumbai terror attacks and that it should arrest its chief Hafeez Sayeed.

Sources close to the talks between Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Pakistan leadership have revealed that US has shared evidence of LeT’s involvement in the attacks that killed 200 and injured over 300.

Pakistan has also been told that it was hard to believe the country’s armed forces, including the ISI, were not in the know of the ghastly terror operation.

However, in an interview with an Indian publication, LeT chief Hafeez has denied his organisation is involved in the terror attacks. He also alleged that Indian intelligence agencies` failure to prevent the attacks was leading them to blame Pakistan.

A veteran CIA analyst also claimed earlier in the day that Mumbai attackers had ISI links.

"If there`s anything that is a 64 million dollar question today," it is finding out the "extent of its(LeT) current ties to the Pakistani intelligence service(Inter Services Intelligence)," said Bruce Riedel in Washington.

Meanwhile Indian authorities have claimed that they have ‘incontrovertible’ proof about ISI involvement in the attacks. Sleuths are aware of who trained the 10 terrorists and where the training took place in Pakistan. This and other pieces of evidence have been shared with the US, sources reveal.

Evidence collected in probes so far has pointed to two members of outlawed Pakistani group Lashkar-e-Taiba as masterminds in the attacks, according to two officials familiar with the matter.

The men, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and Yusuf Muzammil, are believed to be in Pakistan, the officials said. Lakhvi was identified as the group`s operations chief and Muzammil as its operations chief in Kashmir and other parts of India.

The lone surviving gunman in the assault, Ajmal Amir Kasab, 21, told police Lakhvi recruited him for the operation, and the assailants called Muzammil on a satellite phone after hijacking an Indian vessel en route to Mumbai. During the attacks, the gunmen used mobile phones taken from hotel guests to place calls to Lahore.

But it has come to light that the US knows more about the attacks that earlier thought. Its troops being stationed in Pakistan, the US has reportedly got more evidence about Pakistan’s role. It is aware of the exact route that the terrorists took from Karachi to Mumbai and the same has been shared with Pakistani authorities.

Dear MDrn

One good reason why I have still maintained my US passport along with my family. I am not surprised at the comments made here and frankly after yesterday`s action in Mumbai, I am wondering whether how long I can take this shit happening on a daily basis all over this country.

And btw ppl in this country are not fools to vote for a woman out to make a quick buck. Not for long.

Ordinary Indian is unpreturbed by terror? Says who? May be it looks that way because the poor soul can not do anything about it to protect himself. Besides, as that famous Janice Joplin song croons "Freedom is another word for noting left to lose". The other side of this equation is obvious even if unsaid. But I digress.

It is dangerous to use terrorism as a class warfare weapon. It is bad when used for any purpose and it must be crushed out no matter where it raises its ugly head. Hopefully, the justified anger and frustration at the recent loss of innocent lives will lead to action and not apathy again. Strangely, it is always some body else`s job to do something about anything. Lets not talk or write but DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ASAP. ...

Hotel Taj: Icon of whose India?

Gnani Sankaran- Tamil writer, Chennai.

Watching at least four English news channels, surfing from one another during the last 60 hours of terror strike made me feel a terror of another kind, the terror of assaulting one`s mind and sensitivity with cameras, sound bites and non-stop blabbers. All these channels have been trying to manufacture my consent for a big lie called - Hotel Taj the icon of India.

Whose India, Whose Icon?

It is a matter of great shame that these channels simply did not bother about the other icon that faced the first attack from terrorists - the Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminus (CST) railway station. CST is the true icon of Mumbai. It is through this railway station hundreds of Indians from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Tamilnadu have poured into Mumbai over the years, transforming themselves into Mumbaikars and built the Mumbai of today along with the Marathis and Kolis

But the channels would not recognise this. Nor would they recognise the thirty odd dead bodies strewn all over the platform of CST. No Barkha Dutt went there to tell us who they were. But she was at Taj to show us the damaged furniture and reception lobby braving the guards. And the TV cameras did not go to the government run JJ hospital to find out who those 26 unidentified bodies were. Instead they were again invading the battered Taj to try in vain for a scoop shot of the dead bodies of the page 3 celebrities.

In all probability, the unidentified bodies could be those of workers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh migrating to Mumbai, arriving by train at CST without cell phones and pan cards to identify them. Even after 60 hours after the CST massacre, no channel has bothered to cover in detail what transpired there.

The channels conveniently failed to acknowledge that the Aam Aadmis of India surviving in Mumbai were not affected by Taj, Oberoi and Trident closing down for a couple of weeks or months. What mattered to them was the stoppage of BEST buses and suburban trains even for one hour. But the channels were not covering that aspect of the terror attack. Such information at best merited a scroll line, while the cameras have to be dedicated for real time thriller unfolding at Taj or Nariman Bhavan. The so called justification for the hype the channels built around heritage site Taj falling down (CST is also a heritage site), is that Hotel Taj is where the rich and the powerful of India and the globe congregate. It is a symbol or icon of power of money and politics, not India. It is the icon of the financiers and swindlers of India. The Mumbai and India were built by the Aam Aadmis who passed through CST and Taj was the oasis of peace and privacy for those who wielded power over these mass of labouring classes. Leopold club and Taj were the haunts of rich spoilt kids who would drive their vehicles over sleeping Aam Aadmis on the pavement, the Mafiosi of Mumbai forever financing the glitterati of Bollywood (and also the terrorists) , Political brokers and industrialists.

It is precisely because Taj is the icon of power and not people that the terrorists chose to strike.
The terrorists have understood after several efforts that the Aam Aadmi will never break down even if you bomb her markets and trains. He/she was resilient because that is the only way he/she can even survive.

Resilience was another word that annoyed the pundits of news channels and their patrons this time. What resilience, enough is enough, said Pranoy Roy`s channel on the left side of the channel spectrum. Same sentiments were echoed by Arnab Goswami representing the right wing of the broadcast media whose time is now. Can Rajdeep be far behind in this game of one-upmanship over TRPs ? They all attacked resilience this time. They wanted firm action from the government in tackling terror.

The same channels celebrated resilience when bombs went off in trains and markets killing and maiming the Aam Aadmis. The resilience of the ordinary worker suited the rich business class of Mumbai since work or manufacture or film shooting did not stop. When it came to them, the rich shamelessly exhibited their lack of nerves and refused to be resilient themselves. They cry for government intervention now to protect their private spas and swimming pools and bars and restaurants, similar to the way in which Citibank, General Motors and the ilk cry for government money when their coffers are emptied by their own ideologies.

The terrorists have learnt that the ordinary Indian is unperturbed by terror. For one whose daily existence itself is a terror of government sponsored inflation and market sponsored exclusion, pain is something he has learnt to live with. (Part two follows)

Remember also that NDTV is the most bigoted channel. They used the *attack on politician* to get high visibility but who was their attack and barbs directed at most times - the BJP of course.

Also remember that Roy of NDTV has married brinda karat`s sister..LOL.. let them choose between communism and Congress.... ever since communists were ousted out of the UPA there is a small attack on the congress too but they have yet to make up their mind on party affiliations... we want media channels that are brazen with no party affiliation.

I wonder how Burkha who is such a revoultionary woman cannot see thru NDTV`s own politics. LOL

TV18 in contrast is a milder channel with a sense of fairness. All of you should join

Please remember,

Mayawati is one of the highest tax payers in the country. It is impossible for her to have collected so much money on the salary she gets. She is also believed to have several benami sites.Just becoz she has paid her taxes does not mean that she is honest. She cannot accept gifts such as this coz this money that people donated to her should have ideally gone to poverty funds. No politician can have more than 1 to 2 crores (minus honest inhertied wealth) if he had been honest and lived on his salary. Now Kumaraswamy may have several crores of inhertied wealth. Again this inherited wealth is not by the sweat of brow wealth so again this inherited wealth is almost equivalent to tainted money.

The congress is lying about its inabiltiy to find Dawood... Every paanwala and actor in bollywood knows where he is.

Finally BJP should take care to see that Male chauvinists dont enter its ranks. We love India coz we are free. Manu tried to make some laws for Indian women but when we have examples like Draupadi why would we bother with the likes of Manu, he was poopooed and is only in the history books of Hindu Literature.

Remember Hinduism is a progressive relition not retrogressive. Arise Hindus, arise indians....
