This is unbelieveable. The ticker shows it Rs.10 down from previous close and not down Rs.150. But it shows the price at 250. Is there some error?
If it has not undergone a split or a bonus and there is no error in the system, then Rs.252 is a steal. Buy it before you repent for not having bought it.

dear stkstudent,
If you remember... I had told you that 250 [post bonus] would be an idea price to hold GAIL for the long term...

You can now get that price... markets have discounted valutions now.. but how long the discount sale would last is the question... but if you are a long timer like me... these would be opportunities to buy low..

Now I would watch for some more time before re-entering. The market being still weak, a lower price could be possible.

Dear stkstudent,

There are two aspects you should be addressing now...

One is specific to GAIL... that is the fundamental.

The other is the prevailing bearishness...

From a fundamental perspective, 370/250 is fantastic... but you might have to wait for sometime.

From the prevailing bearishness did you see that GAIL was not hurt as much as the other companies? There is huge pressure for the FIIs to pull money out of the market... redemption pressure back home. Under these circumstances they would exit the counters that they are holding... GAIL as such has a majority of its shares with the GOI...

What I would suggest to you is, if you get GAIL at 370... just buy it... other than that, if you want to buy for the short term, you can pick up GAIL at current valuation... believe me, you will get your money back... but a lot depends on sentiments.

So it should be Ex.bonus from 06-10-2008
If the rate moves erratically, don`t think other wise. For the recollection of the bonus issue approved already. The bonus will be credited in two weeks.
Those who desire to sell, please dont take the bonus shares into account now. If you hold say 10 shares,you can sell that ten shares only and the bonus shares can be sold only after it is actually credited in your demat account. Now you can sell the present holdings of ten share only. I am posting this mail as a caution.
