It is an established system to take the cost of aquisition of Bonus shares as zero. You can sell the original shares and book losses and in turn offset your other gains. Whenever you sell the bonus shares, you will be liable for full sale consideration as capital gains.

Dear VKK,

Thanks for the reply. I am informed that I have to keep my existing stock in the purchased price and the bonus at the Rate of Rs.1223.40, which is the spilt on 1st or 3rd of Oct 08.

Pl clarify.

m not expert but i can tel this is game new 52 weeks low,u can see game is started with icici,ril now l&t shld followed by bhel n sbi,dont worry it is not going to fall below 1000...
