I am sorry Pranky, our Democrazy will not permit any improvement to the existing system. We are not only innocent like the rats (read citizens) looking for some one to bell the cat(read politicians)but also foolish that we expect the cat to wear the bell by itself!
Our voters will not elect a person whom they do not know and all those they know are corrupt, cunning and wicked. So forget any reforms.
Only a revolution is reqd to correct the system but we Indians are too self centered to initiate one.
I have a fear that things would go from bad to worse with Mayavati like politicians becoming more and more popular.
God save India

2008: A saga of bruises for Ratan Tata
By: Madhu T & Reeba Zachariah, TNN
It`s been a rough year for Ratan Tata so far. For the industrialist, 2008 started off in a grand way, with the acquisition of the iconic British marquees Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR).
Coming on the back of the Corus acquisition, the JLR deal gave the Tata group the necessary global credentials. But things started skidding off-course when the Nano project had to be pulled out of Singur, West Bengal.
Soon the global financial meltdown set in, hurting several group businesses. And now, the devastation of the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, the jewel in the Tatas` hospitality crown.
Many are wondering, especially after the terrorist attacks, whether Ratan Tata`s stars have suddenly turned unfavourable.
If renowned astrologer Bejan Daruwalla is to be believed, Tata is indeed going through a lean patch. According to Daruwalla, Tata, a Capricorn (born on December 28, a birthday he shares with legends like Dhirubhai Ambani and Swami Vivekananda) is going through a bad formation of Saturn (his main planet) and Uranus.
"This formation means a sudden turn of bad events. That explains the bad phase in Ratan Tata`s life,`` says Daruwalla, citing the troubled Nano project and the Taj carnage.
Daruwalla also notes that, according to Kabbalah--a mystical Jewish tradition--of numbers and tarot, the name Tata is related to the number 10, represented by the picture of "wheel of fortune``. He says, "Since it is a wheel, it goes up and down. This phase is downwards and hence negative.``
Planetary influences apart, it is a fact that the Tata group is facing one of its toughest years in its entire existence of over a century. Ratan Tata`s grave facial expression in his recent public appearances--be it during his visit to the devastated facade of the Taj or at the height of the Nano conflagration in Singur--reflected the challenges he faces.
Already, the global meltdown has hit group businesses. The Tatas are finding it tough to access credit and equity, thanks to the tight liquidity conditions, a depressed stock market and erosion of investor confidence.
But, experts say Ratan Tata is used to adversity. His ascendancy to the chairmanship of the group was marked by bitter battles between him and some well-entrenched senior CEOs in the group eager on protecting their own turf.
Overcoming the initial resistance, he then transformed the group into one meaningful conglomerate. This exercise acquired urgency following colossal losses incurred by Tata Motors in 2000-01. No sooner was this sorted out, Ratan Tata was hit with another crisis, this time from Tata Finance.
So, when will the tide turn for the beleaguered industrialist this time?
"According to western astrology, Jupiter, the most powerful planet, changes to the next sign by February 2009, and that would be favourable for Tata,`` says Daruwalla. "Jupiter is a large planet and moves very slowly.
So, by April, Tata will be on a roll, and all bad things would be over.`` Daruwalla adds that Tata has an extremely bright future.
Slowing consumer demand, integration of global assets, limited avenues for funds, and now global terrorism--challenges tougher than these are hard to imagine. But as an old-timer at the group said: "If there`s one man whom you wanted to be in charge, it is without doubt Ratan.`` One can certainly expect him to lead the arduous task of rebuilding Taj from the front.

Ratan Tata should appease the planets

Ratan Tata ought to check his horoscope for the ill effects of Saturn or any other planet, appease the planet/god in question so the Nation is safe.
Do u all agree?
Anyone has ratan`s horoscope.. such a fine gentleman is going thru such a tumultous phase.
Single stars welcome from those who hate astrology and hate such kind of beliefs.

VISHNU ZENDE : He is an orinary anouncer at CST station. His glass cabin is at a height which can oversee all 15 platforms at CST station(Local & oustation). When firing started he was the railway announcer. He immediately alerted all outside people from entering station. This has saved many lives. Central Railway has still not announced any award to him. Had he been a bihari or a bhaiyya, Laloo would have acted very differently. ...

My Love Story - Mumbai & Taj

My father shifted from Bangalore to Mumbai in early 60s. He had joined FCI Trombay and we lived in Chembur. For me Bombay was a vacation home town as I did my schooling & college in Punjab. thereafter I joined Air Force and it was a similar situation.I just came to the city on a holiday. In 1965 I was commissioned, came to Bombay after 65 war and was made to feel a hero although my contribution in real operation was not much to speak out- being newly commissioned we were not subjected to any tough and demanding mission. I remember my first visit to Taj hotel where along with my friends we ate buffet lunch at cost of Rs12.50, an affordable price as I earned a princely salary of Rs 800/ per month. For many years whenever I was in Bombay IT WAS MY WAY TO `SHOW OFF` TO OUTSIDE FRIENDS AND RELATIONS BY OFFERING THEM LUNCH AT TAJ. In 70s Taj became unaffordable and I stopped visiting except on one occasion when i celebrated my marriage anniversary. Grandeur of this hotel remains etched in my memory. Some time in early 80s, AFTER THE DEATH OF MY FATHER I SHIFTED FROM BOMBAY to DELHI but whether I was in Delhi or New York OR SOME OTHER CITY, comparison became inescapable and some time my wife had to stop my infatuation or was it puppy love of a man with Bombay and Taj. I HOPE TO VISIT BOMBAY AND TAJ AS SOON AS TAJ IS READY. I also wish all Mumbaikars all the best and prosperity in coming years. IT WILL REMAIN THE BUSINESS CAPITAL OF INDIA, ALL INDIANS WILL ENSURE IT

Hey ashalanshu......What u say is 100% right with regard to our argument of short memories.....I mean forgetting the incidents in few days.....But I don`t agree with ur argument......
"what each of us is doing on its part to do his/her duty honestly."
Unless we don`t have power in our hands we can`t do anything....Only persons with power(Politicians)can do in this situation......Regards

Mr emtyvessel, Gamdevi police station caught that terrorist alive. Right now Zee-marathi is airing exclusive cc footege. Probably other Zee news channels also may be showing.
After indiscriminate firing at CST station, terrorists Abu Ismael & Kasab moved towards Cama hosiptal. They spotted a jeep with red light on top. On seeing the red light they started firing at the jeep with carbine. This is the same jeep in which Hemant Karkare (ATS chief), Kamte (DCP) & Vijay Salaskar(encounter specialist) were there. Salaskar himself was driving. All three of them were in front & four policemen were in the back seat. Two of the policemen were also killed & two were injured. After killing them, they pulled out their bodies and used the same jeep. Dead policemen were still in the jeep. Terrorists thought they were all dead. So keeping them in jeep they drove towards Marine drive via Vidhan Bhavan. One of the two policemen who were still alive made some movement. Terrorists then killed him. The other policeman whose hands were badly injured pretended dead & so was saved. While on Marine Drive, a tyre got burst. They got down & threatened a skoda car occupant & moved speedily towards chowpatty. By this time all policemen all over Mumbai were alerted & were given the jeep number which was stolen by them. Gamdevi Police station under whose jurisdiction this area comes had put themselves with positions behind bunkers under Chowpatty foot-bridge . Skoda car came speedily with lights off. Policemen asked them to stop but they started firing. Police retunred fire. In the Process, the car hit road divider & stopped. Kasab came out but before he could open fire, policmen overpowered him. The cc tv footage can be seen with Kasab fallen down & Policemen thrashing him. Other terrorist Abu Ismael who was driving had no chance to come out. He was killed by policemen on the seat before he could reach his carbine. BUT THE SAD PART OF THE whole thing is one policeman lost his life. His name is TUKARAM UBALE. May god rest him in peace.
Gamdevi Police Station as a group should be rewarded....

UPA wont sack Laloo - if done - his party will withdraw support to the NDA and he himself may go in for a no confidence motion to bring the govt down. It does not matter to him becoz he will continue to have Z level security.
Result -
Chaos - more wastage of election money (tax payers) - you get the darshan of your MLA, MP etc - they would come ask for votes -
Dissolve all political parties - There should be NO political party in India
We should only have MPs - all independents - and all MPs must be at least post graduates - there should be no criminal case pending against them - the 500+ members would choose a prime minister among them - the best candicate would win.
Finally, all politicians should retire at age 62 - like all govt and private employees. This will result in fresh and energetic law makers....

not even raj, other politicians like laloo, mulayam, manmohan, PC are not different. All the politicians are blood sucker of common people. Hence new generation youg people should come up and form a party to save this country. Only that is the alternative for India. People living in any state of India are indian first and then other catagories comes.
But it is to be noted that Laloo prasad need not import people from Bihar for railway jobs in maharashtra as their are local young people waiting for job which are born in maharashtra whether they are marathi or other speaking people. Laloo thinks that railway belongs to his fathers since he had talked that he will stop trains in maharashtra without thinking. Such biased people should be sacked immediately and there should be act for the same and there should be punishment for the same whether he Raj Thackrey or Laloo Prasad or Manmohan Singh.

Just toy AK-47 are enough to make ALL such self-styled `regional chieftans` PLUS `national politicians` piss in their pants ... this time these were the real, booming AK-47s ... the regional outfits are all totally petrified by the entire live drama of utter devstation ... they won`t show their face(s) for quite sometime now (if they have even an iota of shame left in them) !
CHIDU has become the HM now - expect a p-NOTES sort of fiasco in the Home Affairs too very soon. The Head of the Nation hasn`t even bothered to cut her foreign tour short !! What a sordid state of affairs we are into. Don`t really know when I have seen our country so desperately short of righteous mentors. Just my views.
I dont know why u used those filthy words for a fellow boarder who was just giving his opinion and suggesting some action. Nowhere did he mention that he was coward or that he wanted others to act. What I find that he like most of us is not sure how to change the system. May be he could not put his views properly. Itz a fact that we are spineless bunch of creatures. Three terroists hijack a plane full of 300 passengers, no one protests. Two terrorists fire indiscriminatelyh, everybody runs away for cover. The only exemplary behavious in the whole episode was displayed by unarmed workers of two hotel who took it upon themsevles the responsibility of ensureing safety of a large number of guests by guiding them properly. Remember, they could have run away easily as they knew all the exit routes. But thy responded to the call of the duty. May be we need to learn from those unnamed, unsung heroes....

Dear treasureddhan,
You are making another political spech., & please dont roll the matter in such manner under the bed.
The basic problem is the people like yourself, spineless & gutless, who have reduced the country to this level COWARDICE.
People like you ,have to change to to change the fabric of india.
Hooligans enter your house & shit on U R face..& instead of rising bravely.. U start singing the song which U are singing in U R MESSAGE ABOVE.
Rise above that mundane level.. & vow to create a govt that governs,& makes your life safer & not accept a govt which acts like a bazzar for the boot lickers.
What u are describing in U R message is depressed mindset of a defeatist, who is accepting all shit, which is being handed to him by this or that govt.
Have a feeling of being a Indian first & sittoria later.. you will have better feel of things around U..
Such serious incidents really reveal the depth of one`s character..& you have proved it.
thank you
nodi..k
