Hi,
SIP is good for people who cannot spend time in Market to spot equity etc
If we look Equity as a long term asset one will come out as a winner
The thumb rule of equity investment is 100-Age,which means at younger age you invest in equity more and less debt and this will change when you are old because you would like to reduce the risk as you grow older
Another investment class is real estate if bought with care it can give phenomenal return over years or if one can invest in reality MF when becomes available

Another investment one should have gold preferably Gold etf,this is easy to hold and more secure

The last one is Insurance (no 1 in priority)to protect family
Along with Annuity etc

The most important is to start early in life
