It is really heartening to note that 10 innocent lives are lost in the riots after the VHP leader is killed.
Christian council says "What is at stake is not only the freedom of conscience of a minority community but the country's secular democracy, its commitment to human rights and constitutional guarantees".
But for the time being to end the long war between Hindu and
Christian funamendatlists, the christians missionaries must stop
their conversion efforts.

Dear Periwinkle,
I NEVER have even once in my messages ever said that i blame God for all the suffering and pain around us. In fact my primary argument has been that THERE IS NO GOD, the pain and suffering is our own doing and has to be dealt with by us HUMANS. If there were to be a loving merciful OMNIPOTENT God, our world would not be in a MISERABLE DEPLORABLE PATHETIC condition that it is in today. Instead of blaming a non existent God and Waiting for a non existent God to take the form of a MESSIAH, come to this world and solve our problems, we should start thinking practically to help our world which is OUR OWN.
All the so called MESSIAHS of GOD, who were supposed to have taken birth in this world to alleviate human beings of all evil seem to have done EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE by creating confused minds which are scared to think on their own and scared about what might happen to them after they are dead, and hence they mindlessly follow the instructions of those Messengers of chanting some obscure names and reading the scriptures over and over in the hope that they will not be punished in their afterlives for all the sins they have committed on this earth, some sins in open and more sins hidden from the prying eyes of their brethren.

Thanks dear Atheist for answering my questions;
(the reason I asked for your age – if you are still young, as you obviously are, there is still hope for fresh thinking and change of mind; especially when you read other people’s arguments carefully.)
We seem to live in an age of unbelief, and even though there are many reasons for believing in God many do not believe. Even those who believe often find themselves doubting. Perhaps the thing that causes us to doubt the most is the problem of pain and suffering. Our problem is this: If there is a God of love, and if He is omniscient and omnipotent, how can He allow all of the pain and suffering we see in the world around us? There seems to be a contradiction there - IF THERE IS NO GOD to blame for the present condition of the world, who then do we blame for the terrible things? Subtract God from the equation and it’s all our fault. This being the case, we have to ask ourselves whether the creatures capable of producing such things – we – do we deserve a better world than the one in which we live right now?
The problem isn’t of God allowing evil but ourselves allowing evil. The question that we are now faced with isn’t how can God justify Himself to us but how will we justify our immorality to Him!!!
It’s almost funny, evil is a huge obstacle to belief in God but God is the only solution to the evil in this world.
Just a little suggestion, dear Atheist, in the silence or stillness of the early morning hours, try and listen to the heartbeat of your ownself and think on these lines – how is it with all the scientific developments, no one has ever been able to give life to the tiniest creature in the world….may be you will come to the logical conclusion that there must be someone and only one that is capable of giving that life….and that life is nothing but the spark of this only One's existence in ourselves which is there to remind us the Source to which we belong…

Kalpana Morparia, regarded in the Indian financial sector as one of the public faces of ICICI Bank and a trouble-shooter for the group, has quit. She will now head financial services major JP Morgan’s operations in India. Ms Morparia had a dominant role in the transformation of ICICI from a development finance institution into the country’s second-largest bank during her stint of over three decades with the group.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, JP Morgan chairman and chief executive of JPMorgan Asia Pacific, Gaby Abdelnour said that the “appointment of Kalpana Morparia as chief executive officer for Indian operations offers JP Morgan a tremendous opportunity to accelerate the progress we have made in building our Indian franchise.”
Ms Morparia said that she was very excited with the opportunity provided to her. “India has enormous potential for a bank of JPMorgan’s size and scale,” she said.
Ms Morparia, who started her career in ICICI in their legal department, was seen as the legal brain behind various deals and structures which led to the creation of the present ICICI Bank. These included the acquisition of a host of finance companies leading to the reverse merger of ICICI with ICICI Bank. Even after the merger, ICICI continued its acquisition spree, adding Bank of Madura and Sangli Bank to its fold.
She was ICICI’s public face at various global meetings which included interactions with potential investors and was also at the forefront of bad debt resolution in the institution.
However, where she may have lost out within the group was in pulling off the proposal to float a separate holding company. This would have enabled ICICI to hive off its shareholdings in the asset management and insurance business into a separate company. Atlhough ICICI had found investors who were willing to buy a five percent stake in the holding company for close to half a billion dollars, the deal did not fructify as the banking regulator objected to the intermediate holding structure.
As the designated chief of the proposed holding company, the deal was Ms Morparia’s last major responsibility before her retirement from the board in 2007.
Bankers reckon that in the coming days, there could be top management changes underway in ICICI Bank. CEO KV Kamath is now expected to be appointed as chairman in place of N Vaghul while Chanda Kochhar who is now joint managing director and CFO is tipped to be the next CEO of the bank.
Incidentally, JP Morgan was for a few years, ICICI’s equity partner in its investment banking, primary dealership and asset management business. Since then, JP Morgan has brought in between $750 million and $ 1 billion through the private equity route. Its principal investments in India are believed to be in the region of around $500 million. The bank, which has been relatively unscathed by the subprime crisis, has ambitious plans for India.
The US bank’s operations were earlier headed by Dominic Price who moved to Vietnam several months ago. Since the exit of Mr Price, JP Morgan had been hunting for a CEO. It had sounded out a few foreign bank heads for the position and finally zeroed in on Ms Morparia.
JP Morgan has been growing at close to 50% in India during the past couple of years. It has a banking licence in India and last year forayed into the asset management business. The group also has a strong investment banking and primary dealership business in the country.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday announced central assistance of Rs 1,000 crore for the Bihar government to accelerate relief and rescue operations for the flood-affected.
At least five districts of north Bihar have faced large-scale devastation unleashed by the Kosi following the breach in its embankment at Kusaha in Nepal.
The announcement to sanction the assistance amount, besides 1.25 lakh tonne grain, was made after the aerial survey of affected areas undertaken by the PM on Thursday. Perhaps so moved was the prime minister on seeing the ground reality that he also declared it a national disaster and assured that the Centre will extend all possible help to the state government.
The Bihar government is facing a daunting task in relief and rescue operations given the seriousness of the problem which has displaced nearly 20 lakh people by the Kosi changing course and inundating new swathes of land mass in north Bihar districts. It is apprehended problems could aggravate if the level of water rises due to discharge from catchment areas in Nepal.
“Till yesterday, the water discharge hovered around 1.67 lakh cusec. But today it rose to 1.72 and may augment further in the coming months if the upper catchment areas in Nepal experience more rain. In that case, the situation will worsen,” said an official of the state water resources department.
The prime minister was accompanied by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union home minister Shivraj Patil, chief minister Nitish Kumar, railway minister Lalu Prasad and Union chemical and fertilisers minister Ram Vilas Paswan during the aerial survey.
Apart from the state government machinery, three columns of Army, personnel of national disaster response force (NRDF) and a large number of voluntary bodies are currently involved in the rescue operation. About 700 boats have been pressed into service to evacuate the marooned to safer places. With a view to involving political parties of all hues in the strategy which needed to be adopted to speed up relief and rescue operations, Mr Kumar has called an all-party meeting on Friday to discuss the flood situation.

Dear GV,
Am sorry to say this but i don\\`t see the the connection between knowledge and God. What exactly do you mean when you say, \\`knowledge is God\\`.
Now, for example, I have knowledge of simple arithmetic, does it mean i have God in me??? I am confused by your comments.
Another example, i have knowledge required to ride a bike, does that mean i have god in me.
Sorry, but your comments make no sense to me.
could you please enlighten me with a clear explanation about THE \\`knowledge\\` you are talking about, that according to you is God.
Now, coming to life......I am sure you will not deny the fact that nothing much was known about animal life a few 100 years ago. But with every passing day some knowledge is being gained about life, and how it exists.
Life does not come from anywhere, Its a just the existence of an animal. An animal(including humans) is alive till his body is being nourished with food, oxygen and water. You stop one of these and he is dead and his body decomposes. Just like a automobile which requires fire, fuel and oxygen to keep running, take out one of these and the automobile comes to a stop.
The difference between a Human and a automobile being that a Human is a FAR MORE COMPLEX contraption than a automobile, having complex qualities like senses, emotions, conscience etc...
A few hundred years ago we dint even have a simple automobile and the very thought of having a machine that could transport you to a place 1000s of miles far in a few hours could seem like a big JOKE.
Now we have planes that that fly at super sonic speeds...
We have managed to create life virtually outside an animal body...cloning.
If you read todays TIMES IF INDIA edition, you will see that scientists are saying that the day is not far when we will be able to extend animal life to the required age.
With every advancing day a lot of unanswered questions ATTRIBUTED ONLY TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD are being unraveled by science..
At this rate the day should not be far when people will start believing that everything non explainable by humans which was attributed to GOD, coz we humans did not have the vision to expalin the unexplainable and CONVENIENTLY CREATED A GOD, to escape from our own shortcomings.
I reiterate my earlier statement...God was created by us humans due to lack of confidence in ourselves.

Hi Atheist,
I was reading the posts in the thread with interest
I have couple of things to say/ask
Do you accept knowledge?
I am sure you will
How do you show your knowledge? Can you physically as a hardware, show it?I am afraid not,it is not material
Another one
Can you scientifically explain where your life is?in your body?
Where is the force coming from?
Why we are all having names, what is the need for this?
Animals don't have (we name pets)
The knowledge is the one we are talking about is GOD
And the religions, teachings,Vedas explain and ask us to do
In simple language it is stated in Gayatri
Hope you don't mind my point of view

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee .
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full.. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the
jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between
the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They
agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students respon ded with an unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and
poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space
between the sand. The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize
that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---your
family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and
if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still
be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.
The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy
on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important
to you.
'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.. Spend
time with your children. Spend time with your parents.. Visit with grandparents...
Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play
another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set
your priorities. The rest is just sand.'
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked.'
The coffee just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's
always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'...
