not only ibsec a lot of stocks are trading at very cheeap rates. those who are interested in share market and those who have money without liabilities, this is the best time to but with plan to accumulate watching the price movements. investment in share narket is a risky issue and the risk reward ratio is very little here. anyway, it is definitely safer than at 21ooo level . buying without any stpoloss . accumulate and forget about it.

Dear Boarders
Even as some boarders talk about Rs.150-200 levels for IBS in a couple of years time, there is a report that the promoters have been unsuccessfully scouting for a buyer to get rid of the firm (vccircle dot com/500/news/indiabulls-securities-on-the-block-but-where-are-the-takers)! As on 30 September 2008, promoters hold only 27.11 per cent of the shares.
Against this backdrop, what should be the long term strategy for us small investers? What is the future of other mid-sized brokerages such as India Infoline, Motilal Oswal, Geojit, etc.? Please discuss.
Thanking you in anticipation of an informative discussion.

i do not know about your calculations. but if it can move around this levels for another three to six months it would give very good returns in future. in bear market it is important not to lose patience. slowly accumulate, watching the quarterly performances. This quarter may not be as bad as before. giving so much dividend itself is a sign of investor friendliness i think.so,they will give something like bonus or rights in future. i have hope. even a 2 rupee dividend is satisfactory if it can hold around 20 rupees

I feel that IB Sec can be a possible 10 bagger, with very low risk as well as giving a great 20% plus divident yield while holding it for the next 3-4 years.
The reasons are as following:
This year it should earn around 140-160 Cr as profit. The stated intention of the management is that it will distribute 70-80% as divident. Hence on an EPS of Rs 5.5 they should distribute Rs 4 as divident (last year Rs 7.5)resulting in div yield of 25% at current price of Rs 18.
Low risk because this is not a capital intensive biz and they have possible the best and largest broking francise. Poepple will trade the market whether it goes up or down.
In the next bull run m, maybe 3-4 years later, the EPS could grow to Rs 10 and the market may give it a 15 PE multiple resulting in a price of Rs 150, if very bullish maybe Rs 200. And while waiting for the 3-4 years, keep earning 25% post tax returns on your investment.
I have thought a lot about this and would like to hear thoughts supporting or against my theory.

dear, kadiyali, If we want to come out of pain, we might have done this to at the beginnig of the bear market or atleast in the middle . This bear phase , if not bottomed out, has reduced it`s intensity and obvious delivery buying is happening in many counters. if you are intersted, look at some of the counters like CAIRN INDIA, Ntpc. rel power, ivrcl,
etc. This type of stock specific movements are typical of a sideways market. Some will come down and some would go up. So, the trend of universal downtrend has gone. That is the fact, whether you agree or not. But i am not arguing for ibsec it may have some more downtrend. But, for the exact timing of the market cycle , it needs some more observations, Just falling of ibsec from 25 to 18 does not mean that we are in a the worst bear phase. If the market holds like this for few more days, it will also bounce. , if it can trade above 27., a rally can be expected. Let us see. iam ready accept the opposite market vies as the vies are not permnent. int he mkt the vies change.

dear kadiyal, you wrote reply to my letter after one month. I do not know why ?
I do agree to this point. but, the transition from bear to bull phase or to the prolonged sideways market in between the two, cannot be predicted . it is important to identify the sideways market because, the risk of losing the delivery is very much here. The risk reward ratio is high here. Ofcourse, before this sideways movements, selling was the safest method. In 2001, when the sideways to bull phase was there, Bharati was available at 20 eupees. but people afraid of further fall or those adament bears believed to get it at 10 rupees . But what happened then? it went up to 1000. So, dear friend, donot try to predict market always. Once or twice you may be right. not always.
this market shows many features of sideways movements. slowly it will , i emphasisise the word slowly, it will go into bull phase. if you can enter here with some risk , you can get 2-3 times returns long term . If you sell here you will get 20-30 % profit only , that too only if lucky.

The greatest mistake investors make in a bear market is that they keep believing the bear phase will end shortly, and a bull run will start. They keep believing this week after week, and month after month. Till of course, the bear phase ends one fine day. That exactly is the pain of the bear phase. We should boldly come out of this pain, by reversing our thinking. Shares sold in a bear market rally will always be available below the selling rate, even if temporarily the share price goes up.

i do agree. if you are a disciplined trader, you can make money . But see, many of us are , at least i am not of that category. On many occasions we cannot get out of the hangover of our previous experiences. many could not accept the fact that we are in a real horrifying bear market and the verocity of bear market was new to us. if i could feel this i would not have entered after january 2008 .
in my experience this is just like gambling where you have to take immediate profits and stop playing and get out of market immediately . then look only after a specified period. obsession of continuing in mkt is the danger.

anyway, it does not have a secular downtrend against the market. if it has it`s own specific risks it would have moved against the market. with the intra day movements of sensex, it moves as with other major trading shares. so, for me a specific colapse is not imminent . Ofcourse it is time to tell who is right or wrong.
