marketman,

First of all, I wish you a happy and peaceful Diwali. I would like to add the word `prosperous` but the time is not good enough to that.

As regards hdfc, I am looking to buy it if it reaches 900 level. When I mentioned that I might be adding punjlloyd if it comes below 150 level, I was not so serious but was expecting that it might be. It really surprised me when it breached that level so early.

Now I may be acting like a politician at this level, in other words, I can change my stand as they do. Frankly speaking, I failed to buy it when it was at 150 level nearly 2 yrs back but now at this level it seems to be dangerous to add to my PF.

Can it breach double digit too?

with best wishes and regards,

knair...

arunad actually most banks give high interest to big deposits and specially for deposits above 1 crore..i dono whethere hdfc gives 12 percent for 15lakhs..but some banks already very near to 12..city union bank is giving 11.30..more over hdfc has less exposore to credit card loans..icici bank has 21,000 crores towards personal loan and credit card loans....

Poojaji, HDFC bank is also sailing in same boat.you might not be aware that HDFC is paying 12% interest on deposite above 15 lacs and it seeems that they are also facing severe liquidity problem b`caz of their exposure with realty companies, which is going tobe NPA soon if market conditions remain like this.

Dear Souuravkundu,
I had all the appreciation for your short letter to a boarder. Will you permit to say, why you express your passion towards equity in the last sentence as a post script?
Please do not have any sentiments to the shares. They are fair weather friends.
May I add a few words? Instead of VPF, you can well have a PPF account for your wife and nurse it every month by a minimum contribution you can afford. For PPF is the one account as on date, that can be extended beyond the maturity period.VPF will come to an end with the retirement.
It gives me a good support in the third extension, even after my retirement. One account can be opened in the name of all in our family. I am doing like that, by sending a gift cheque, by Tamil new years day(April every year) to all my grand children, specifically drawing the ch/DD in favour of their PPF account to keep the accounts in force.
Just I share my point of view.
With seasons greetings to you and to all whom you love,
V.Krishnamoorthy ...
