I am biased towards PSUs for the following reasons
1) They give good dividends and bonus
2) Though the Management might not be over aggressive but they are not crooks like many Private Sector Management .
3)Many PSU companies have monopoly status and I prefer that in a stock .
That is the reason why I prefer stocks like GAIL , GSPL , POWER GRID etc .However just because I like PSU stocks I do not invest in PSUs which are made to bleed by the government like HPCL , IOC , BPCL etc .GAIL , GSPL are exceptions whose subsidy burden is not much .Plus India`s future being Natural Gas in the energy sector I am highly optimistic on the same . My preference of GSPL over Gujarat Gas is due to GSPL being a pure transmission player unlike GAIL / GUJGAS which are involved in transmission / marketing etc .

Hi valueman, I have also Power Grid 800 & 100 GSPL at IPO price. NTPC 300 purchased from market. No doubt these PSU monopolistic, but Political interference/Govt Policy can destroy the future of the company at any time being Govt major shareholder? Strength of any party is not being used in the interest of the country but political parties are useing their strength to strength the party. For example NUCLEAR DEAL talk was started by the previous Govt. But being in opposition it is necessary to oppose the bill. Where as country is in need of POWER? Distribution of free rice/wheat/ electricity, are these policies are not intereference of Political parties. Are these benefits are being reached to proper persons?.?.?...

Hello valueman, Gujrat Gas (MNC) in the state of Gujrat is also in operation who have contacted so many big/small industries for supply of gas for short/long term. Besides GSPL is a PSU. Public Sector Undertaking has their own way of working. Oil companies who were under the burden of subsidy have suffered the losses keeping in view raising oil prices in the international market and Indian Govt was seen under pressure from opposition not to raise the oil price in the Indian market. Moreover the market price of GSPL and Gujrat Gas has lot of difference keeping in view their yearly net profit. Keeping in view the position explained which stock may be prefered GSPL OR Gujrat Gas?...

Hi valueman, Gujrat Gas is also in such field in Gujrat State. That company is also distributing the gas to different type of industries in big cities of Gujrat and have long time contracts. But the share price of Gujrat Gas is much more than GSPL and which is now available at near to bottom level. Keeping in view GG what is your opinion, which share may be prefered. Besides Public Sector Undertaking (including GSPL) companies which have their own policy matters and limitations? PSU Oil companies were giving the pressure on their business during price rise of OIL in international market. Govt was not able to increase the price of oil and was bearing the subsidy burden, keeping in view leftist/opposition leg pulling? I want to exchange my views, for taking proper decision. ...
