Cues from FnO: Short term bounce?

Now the main problem is when the dust will settle. Every week we are getting bad news.
Now all analysts on CNBC have started talking about LT as 2=3 years. Today I heard Shri SP Tulshian and Shri Gul talking to Shri Pradeep of Aawaz channel. At the end of their conversation, Shri Pradeep asked them whether we can expect market to improve within next 2-3 years. To this their reply was if market does not improve even within next 2-3 years, then we all are ........
It means in ST we have to bear this pain. If we believe in past, then whenever an investor has invested his money during such bear phases, he had earned a lot from the market after sometime. This time, I think, it should not be different. Time horizon may be a little more this time. Thanks....

Thanks once again vkk ji for your kindness and appreciation.
I just wanted to bring Mangalam Timber to your notice. One can buy it later when the dust settles.
Since 2002 we have not seen a bear market and so it is bound to be bitter and painful that too considering the fact that it has come down from a very high level.Hope all realise this and plan their action plans carefully.

Thank you very much, dear KFactor ji for all your kindness.
And welcome back to TD board!
Kindly clarify the following:
I find SRF promoters have bought some good qty of (their)shares in the secondary market yesterday, as announced by the stock exchanges.
Why many cos do not follow this? When their shares are going at such a low price and they see the value, why don`t they buy from the mkt, which would also act as a morale booster for the retail investors?
What are the rules governing this and is there any lock in period for shares procured this way?
Best regards,

In short to medium term i am expecting 50% recovery in all index stocks.
Now if we take the highs of ICICI Bank, it was around 1450 so it can go to 725 effortlessly.
Chances of going down will keep on getting minimised and we are in extrem pessemism any flow of series of good news will put in sharpest recovery in equity markets. ...

Now it seems that stocks even may not be able to cross 500 level. If it crosses above 500, 550 will be the best shorting opportunity. At level 480 it was looking that stock is strong as it was resilet to the market sentiments. But such big crack is not tolerable and turbulance in the stock can continue for next couple of quarters. Stock has daunting task to cover as stock is forming lower tops and bottome every time. i.e. previously top was 764 and bottom at around 640. Then it came down to 664-540, 630-513, 600-505, 521-460, 480-410, 455-330. This is very bad for the stock and 390 level can be short term resistance. I think that investors should get out from stock at around 521 levels now

vkk43,
No doubt that we are in bear mkt. Once we are in, getting out of it is not so an easy task. It may take time, time which nobody is sure of predicting.
As regards RIL, I will be a happy man if it not falls below 999. But if falls, we are nobody to stop it but to become a witness of it. A witness of seeing the mkt falling to 7500 level too.
We don`t want to see it, so we say that it is not going to happen.
But when it happens, it is to happen. If it does not happen, we got thousands of panic sellers ready to make it happen. The channels are bringing out sensationalised headlines. They are also selling, their products, in form of sensationalisation.
Let us come back to RIL. It is the strongest stock in the mkt. Its weightage is too high. Anything happens to it can make the mkt to be affected. ICICI fell from 1465 to 327. With it, mkt also fell to certain percentage. Both put together, they carry 30% weightage in the mkt fall. Another 3 more stocks- L&T, Infy and Airtel- also carry huge weightage and if they also fall, sensex can break the past records.
Sensex is seen with these stocks but they are not representing the real picture. But most of us are only looking into it?
The number game is dangerous.

Why this one only. I relished most of yr msgs. While it is a fact that I read very few msgs only, but if I see yr msg, I must read it. I cannot shift to next msg unless I read yr msg. Really great.
In this weak market, Mang. Timber stands no chance, sorry to say.
Now we will find many shares 3-4-5 years low under the present market conditions, reason being nobody would like to make fresh investment and if anybody is in need of money urgently, he has no other option but to sell it at any price he gets it. That usually happens in the last leg of bear period. Since last few years market has been very good and it has been going up every year, hence this prolonged bearishness in the market will be painful, no doubt about it.

The first sentence (in the first para)of your msg = crocodile tears...
Madam, do you remember --- I was warning all TD blind bulls about the danger ahead...last year and again during re-listing time.
It is very sad that good & experienced people like you closed your eyes and ears together...
Any how, you investors - it is better to be prepared for the worst... Why the AGM date was postponed..??? It is possible that investors may get very to very very bad shocking news from TD ---
If you investors has the guts, then take the TD management to court and get the accounts / business transactions investigated... It can be done only thro collective willingness of all of you.
Best of Luck...

RAMGE,
Even sbalu is frustrated... his latest message says MARKET HAS FOOLED EVERYONE... did u read it... its really sad to see longterm investors feeling so dejected. The govt should do something isnt there a plan at all to protect investor`s wealth in stockmarkets.. i am sure we can come up with something...
At least whenever a stock goes up more than its growth rate the minstry should send out a warning to innocent investors. And if a company has gone under or not listed or has altogether vanished then the govt has a bigger responsibility.
If even 50% of losses have been becoz of vanishing companies then the janata should revolt
The investor mutiny of 2008.. lol lol
They should take the govt to task and get to behave responsible at least as far as vanishing companies go and where companies have not listed for more than a year of erasing face value like TELEDATA

The Associated PressPublished: October 11, 2008
ST. JOHN, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS: A strong earthquake jolted people awake Saturday in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and nearby Puerto Rico.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries following the earthquake that struck just after 6:40 a.m. local time (1040 GMT).
The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 at a depth of 29 kilometers (18 miles). It said the quake struck about 70 kilometers (43 miles) northwest of Anegada in the British Virgin Islands.
Disaster officials in the British Virgin Islands said there were no reports of significant damage or injuries from the quake, said government spokeswoman Sandra Ward.
"At first I thought it was a big truck rolling by but then I realized the windows were closed," Ward said. "It wasn`t a good experience, just listening to things crumble

Sunilbenares, Glad to know that you are a Banker with decades of exposure in Banking Sector in India and Washington DC. Hence, you must be accustomed to the system/practices of banking in both countries. When I had some knowledge of the system of financing in India especially by banks, I am bit surprised/concerned in regard to the system of affording Cash Credit. Sometimes, I question the need for such a system of financing ESPECIALLY to traders. Since big PSU banks and private banks take away accounts of big firms with HIGH credit rating, the smaller banks (INCLUDING many PSU Banks) have no option but to finance firms with LESSER credit ratings, thus posing greater risk to their own balance sheet. I hear that such a system is not in vogue in many countries, as this system is fraught with mainly diversion of funds to activities other than the targeted purpose and also, impedes asset creation. I may be wrong in my inference. Do you feel that time has come for India to review the system of Cash Credit (not immediately, but in course of time) in view of collapse of financial system across the globe?

yes...all the mnc stocks are looking great and we should add them to our portfolios in this bargain hunting spree. but the problem is no research is done this sector and no buy rating from brokerages. volumes are normally thin and no management news flow and thats why may be they don`t fly around like others stocks do immaturely. but then they will also not fall like crazy cats in this falling markets. they normally outperform the broader indices.
swamy.

psgs,
not all MNCs, there are some MNC`s which are falling also..like SKF India, Goodyear, Timken etc.
Those stocks which have not participated in bull run, & investors were cursing them have not fallen much, because they are value stocks. Basically they are cash rich, zero debt, high dividend paying companies. They are all time fancied stocks. So we have look for bargain hunting in these stocks.

SIGMA TANKERS POOLS EXPANDS FLEET
Friday, 10 October 2008
US-based Heidmar says that Indian-based Mercator Lines, China-based China Shipping Development and and German-based Conti Reederei are to join the Sigma Tankers pool and that Emirates Trading Agency of Dubai, an existing member of both Sigma and the Heidmar managed Dorado Tankers pool, will be entering two more vessels into Sigma Tankers.
Mercator and China Shipping, also members of the Dorado Tankers pool, will enter one vessel each into Sigma Tankers. Conti will take delivery of two coated LR2 tankers from Hyundai Heavy Industries in 2009. These two vessels have been fixed on time charters and will be entered into Sigma Tankers at the end of these charters.
Sigma Tankers recently entered the clean LR2 trade with the delivery of two newbuildings in July and September. Further expansion into this market will continue with three additional LR2 tankers being delivered to the pool over the next four months by China Shipping and by ETA.
Heidmar says: “These and other committed ships will bring the Sigma Tankers vessel count to over 30 ships by early 2009. In addition, Sigma Pool members have more than 30 aframax and LR2 tankers on order.
Tim Brennan, President and CEO of Heidmar, said: “We are always delighted to welcome new pool members, but it is also very gratifying to have existing pool members enter additional vessels into Heidmar pools.”

Dear Knair,
You are Right as well as wrong.........I tell you how.
You are right in explaining the coupling of main street that is the Knot of economies in the globalisation era.
But we are here talking about wall street and Dalal street De- coupling or in the other words the De- coupling of advanced and emerging economies i.e. US, Europe, Japan etc. Decoupling from emerging from India, China & Brazil.
I mean to say that in the coming years when the world will woke from thier bed they will watch Sensex , Shangai comp to take thier trading or buying decisions in their respective stock markets and not Dow Jones and Nasdaq or European Markets.
I think you have got it cleared what exactly Decoupling is.......
