But have they also announced about its profit figure, without which only sales figures are of not much use.

Dear Friend,
No need to get panic. Arvind is having good investments and it`s planning to sell it`s 49% stake to Reliance group. That news is confirm, only thing is news is not declared officially but it`s already there in the market with big players. Just look at intra day trading pattern, you will realize slowly buying is happening. Once it will come officially then see the price, it will climb 48-52 levels within 2-3 days. I know the internals via some sources.
This is not for traders but only for the investers not to get panic and booking loss. You can average at current levels, it`s a good bet.

With the rupee depreciating at 45$ and likely to depreciate further to 47 per $, Arvind mills should see good returns for the hedging they do on their exports,It will also be able to effectively improve their bottom line now

These kind of stocks moves only in a bull run or extra ordinary $ rates like what we see now. I am gonna wait for the dust to settle. Not a bad idea to accumulate at this level. man, this is not a bluchip to participate in each and every raly ...

Many have burnt their finger with arvind and I am also one of those guys.. after waiting for year, finally I have booked my loss today. Though every stock has taken a hit, this stock does not move with the market... but in tough times, it goes in parallel with market. There are so many good companies available at discounted price, then why to pick up some junk like arvind...

Arvind`s retail chain megamart has entered into a licensing pact with US-based Cherokee, under which the Indian firm will market Cherokee`s family lifestyle brand across the country, reports Economic Times.
The company said that Arvind has been a specialist in men`s brand in India and through this agreement they are planning to tap the women and children`s apparel market in a big way.
The megamart which sells multiple brands at discount prices, will sell the products at a variety of prices points across Tier 1, 2 and 3 cities. Megamart is expected to contribute about 3 billion rupees in sales, or roughly 15% of Arvind`s total turnover, in 2008/09, the company said.
Cherokee will occupy 20-25% area of a typical small-format megamart store, which has an average area of around 3,000 square feet. For its large-format stores which occupies between 40,000 to 60,000 square feet in area, Cherokee will take up about 5% of space

Too many CEO\\`s in Arvind Mills ...

Textile as a sector is not so rewarding. But I always hear that they earn a lot inspite of outward showing. See so many big textile shops opened just prior to and after diwali. Margin for a trader is around 30-50% inspite of discount sales. Comewhat may they have the market but where is the profit from there is going.
Always they sight one or the other reason 1)recession 2) dollar valuations 3) general economic trend to show loss and avoid dividend payment
I agree this is only a layman"s view. But this cant be dismissed slightly...

congratulation for the best article. you are 100% right for your valuable suggetion that why should people will give support? to feed their ceo as if shareholders are earning their hard earned money for them. and what is the use of 1 or 2% margin. after having a gross block of more than 3000crs. they are not showing the profit of even 1%. it is shameful to kasturbhai's children.

Any organization that freely gives the title of a CEO to a employee just to retain them .. can not be considered as a great organization to work for. Of late they have 45 CEO\\`s ... just like what happened in the advt industry in the 80\\`s and the banking industry in the 90\\`s.
Having said that I am certain their finance dept would have covered themselves at 40 or 42 to a dolalr and not in even in their wildest of imagination would they or any one have thought that rupees would go to 45 and above .. so I guess that textile not being a sunrise industry anymore .. Arvind can best be left alone .. may be the land bank story can come up every now and then .. but folks their margin is just 1 to 2% and why would I as a investor want to put money in such a company.
My call is to stay away from this CEO rich and margin poor company.
