problem is not in religion, we have religion like jainism and buddhism which are non violent and i m yet to see incidences where these religions are used to spread hatred.

years back it was predicted that we have exceeded the peak production of crude. then new discoveries happened and analyst raised the bar till 2010-2011.
even today we havent explored anything in the deep sea floor. if geologists are to be believed there is much more hidden that what we have got now. another areas are covered with ICE. kerogen in USA is huge stock of another kind of fossil fuel.
the problem is for few resources we dont have technology to explore and for few its not cost effective.

in general cost of crude has to go up only but not the way we have seen recently.
i believe the imbalance of demand supply has created this havoc. if india would have had its own captive fields we would have been enjoying like brazil. solid economy....

it's foolish to state that religion recommends violence, killing, immorality, etc. Christianity believes that all beings are children/creatures of one FATHER and as such does not uphold wrong-doing! i suppose/believe that all religions advocate the same, i.e. RIGHTEOUSNESS! hence, one has to look elsewhere as to the primary cause of injustice from time immemorial...... it should be clear that it's the evil (people), who use religion to justify their wicknedness!...

I agree Jainism and Buddhism are least violent of all religions. Jainism is atheistic and denies existence of God and Buddhism is agnostic, it neither accepts nor denies existence of God. Is it a coincidence that atheist/agnostic religions are less violent compared to monotheistic creeds and therefore morally superior? The Christian Europe was religious and violent few centuries ago. Now the europeans have become overwhelmingly atheist/agnostic ie they have moved away from their religion. They are less violent now. This contradicts the view that it is the followers of a religion who make it violent and not the religion itself. People who want to sound politically correct will do well to read the scriptures of such religions before coming to conclusions. I disagree with the view that religions are the sole upholders of morality. Violence is the highest form of immorality and when religions have been one of the main reasons for violence through out human history, how can they be upholders of morality?...

Dear neeguya, Latest research shows that there are enough resources in lands of Africa and Latin America. More over as BSR said the technology will definitely improve in the days to come. Necessity is the mother of invention. The demand and supply theory is not the only factor. Anything above $100 even considering the dollar depreciation is unreasonable and purely based on speculation and the biggies exploit the conditions to the limits. The game cannot go on for ever. I have seen in my school days lots of banners saying that crude will not last long and the sources will be fully exploited in 50 years. The estimation now is far more. What is cnsidered as right today will be wrong tomorrow, that is what science prooves. New innovations and discoveries will always be made. Let us hope for the best. regards nadhi...

Btw, just like brazil, by just introducing 40% ethanol in oil may result in low prices. Apart from the influence of automobile industry, Question remains whether there is any political will or not? Just like Europe, cycling can be promoted for day to day activities provided government and industry also spend some money on building infrastructure for building those cycle tracks. Add to that, change in mindset will be required in certain section of people. :) There are many such simple solutions. :) :) Gud luk & happy investing!...

Dear neeguya, Most points are valid. Technology to explore certain regions do exist. However, cost is high. With passage of time, those technologies will improve and become cost effective. In the meantime, there will be some changes in usage of oil. For example: instead of oil, more hybrid cars / automobiles / machinery will start making common sense. :) natural gas is a good option. High oil price will ensure that we go for solution involving natural gas. Same way, there are many experiments going on currently world wide to come up with other solutions. High oil price will give way to those resources. :) There is more than just deman and supply! I pasted on article yesterday... one reason could be that someone was HEAVY SHORT on oil when the price was around 100. That person has now filed for bankruptcy. There could be more like him loosing their money in that NAKED SHORT SELLING. Best wishes!...
