Why only Mitali?? -I told U, shes my favourite... :)

One more thing, Mod: Why have U kept the pvt. msgs inbox as a seperate window....??? Kindly change that format... Coz then , we have to log out twice or close either of the windows...

And yeah, please dont forget to invite Ms.Mitali over here, ASAP.... :)

Cheers

Hi pranky,

It will tough to get Mitali to comment on all the messages.. but we will definately invite herself on board for a chat or a column.. that way we can keep the interactivity alive

infact why only Mitali.. why not all anchors??

RN,

1.The cardinal rule in MMB is do not ask a male his age and a female her income!.I am similar to Teledata mentally (never cross teens)

2.I am no finance guy and many times read leger as legder.I would suggest that you seek the help of a good CA who has knowledge on IT related issues and hire his services to file your returns. Our IT dept follows a bottom up approach viz tax evasions of two and three digits are scrutinised first before taking up six or seven digits. So be careful about these matters

3.Gambling can never be taught or learned. It has to come in the gene

4.Somehow you give me the impression of a teacher.Perhaps the world has lost a good teacher when you shifted to stocks. What is loss for the noble profession is a gain for Nobel profession..or vice versa

Cheers,

...

Googol,

Happy Teachers Day..

My dad told me not to teach anyone gambling as its not a perfect science, so i quit. I am not a teacher from now on but will be a perfect chatterbox on this board. Am requesting mod to open a separate section for chitter chatter...

I think more than half the mutual fund buyers post 2007 are in deep losses right? Would u know?

BTW since when has the contract note been made compulsory. And it shows ST, STT, STAMPDUTY etc and brokerge

Does the brokerage directly go from account to the broker or does it go to NSE/BSE first and they pay the broker on our behalf? I ask this becoz suddenly i realized that the contract note amount total is debited or credited in one go, the debit for brokerage does not happen separately from our account. Its one total amount thats debited or credited as the case may be..

Will you tell me how i am to understand a ledger.... my tax consultant sent me the ledger format of my trades... how to undrestand the profits and losses from it.. please tell in simple steps (like u gave the formulae for profits and losses for trades)

BTW are you an finance guy? You do business or ur employed? Just curious thats all and how old would you be?

RN,

For filling the Tax returns you don't need to download or attach anything. you need put your stocks sold in excel files including Brokerages, and have some columns like Short term capital gain ( with in one year from purchase date ) or Long term capital gain ( above one year from purchase date.

You can open your trade book from ICICI direct ( in the trade book enter the financial year )to find the below details. ( you can not just total the trade book , you need to work on each and every trade manually and fill in the excel ) for example in Aug month you would have traded Mini nifty for 30 times, have all the BUYs totaled up and have all the sells totalled up, add and remove brokerages from the amount, Then you can arrive at Net short term gain.

for cash

Sl No Share name No of shares sold Date of sale Net sale value Date of Purchase Net purchase value Short term capital gains Long Term capital gains

7 BURCEM 200 3-Jan-08 6408.4 3-Jan-08 5052.22 1356.18

( remember to include brokerages for BUY and remove brokerages from SELL for calculation )

For F & O

Sl No Contract name Quantity Net Buy rate( incl brokerage ) Net sale rate ( exclude brokerage ) Short term capital gains Remarks

( 3 FUT-BAJHIN-28-Feb-2008-S 21850 5139018.97 5151574.52 12555.55)

Once you come up with values give it to your tax consultant ( the worksheet ), If at all if your application is selected for taking clarifications you might need to produce the contract notes for each and every shares , F & O bought and sold.

From this year onwards you don't need to attach any proofs...

If you need any clarifications let me know

Oldtimer,

I think i have a few of these posts, let me see if i can post it for you here.. i saved it on my system....

BTW today was the most boring day... some problems with my tax returns filed by my broker cum taxconsultant...

how do u show ur trades for tax returns

Do u go to ICICIBANK account and filter on EBA entries and see withdrawals deposits, minus one from another and arrive at ur profits or do you go to ICICIDIRECT and total the trade book?

Kindly tell me. Thanks.

Which should i do.. some confusion today and i was left poring over sheets of paper not knowing what to do.

Not an easy market for traders -- unless one can afford pretty deep stop losses (like shorting SAIL at 144 and seeing it go up to 160, shorting DLF at 490 and seeing it all the way up to 560!)...

Low volumes and concerted institutional action is what i sense.. Not the ideal environment for technicals to flourish...

But a great market for the informed, lucky and not too greedy traders, cause if one makes the right entry, the rewards can be really huge (know a lucky friend like that)!

Have fun!...

RN,

Have been virtually away from the market all these.. An odd short DLF or SAIL, and then tracking the losses, and booking a small profit at the earliest opportunity..

Focussed on earning money the hard way.. Expecting a big opportunity to deploy the hard earned post elections.. Till then plan to lie low.

buy mrpl. and jyoti structures... extreme short term.....

Raj,

I play a few lakhs, max 2 lakhs for trading... i dont have much to lose even if i playe recklessly... if a middleclass person cannot indulge in the luxury of blowing 2L in a pursuit he enjoys then i think i am born only to sweat. As i said i would like to enjoy life and so i am here.

BTW the TRIN the last few days was very oversold and i was wondering why... i dint realize that it would take effect so late thats why i sold PUTS.

I bought PUTs coz of oversold TRIN during rallies.. a bearish divergence.. the TRIN gave enough warning last three days... i took the warning and bought PUTS but dint know how to time the sell... nifty bullishness fooled me... what to do... sad..wasnt our nifty so resilient.. thats why i thought i am reading too much into the TRIN.

Hi RN,

You will be back with a vengence for sure.. You are too seasoned to stay away because you sold your puts 2 days too soon.

Good luck
