243 is a veryyy high level to buy this stock.. not a buy over 230 - 235..243 is more on the upisde.. though it has seen 256 on a day not too long bak...wait for this stock to hit 220...which should be soon... its purely crude play so take ur calll.. crude today is 106..and shud be in this range...but its headed to go below 100 soon....purely ur call.. but yes good stock from investment prespective..as and when crude rallies see this go up..

I bought this stock at 243 level as everybody was saying that this stock is good & recommending this share at 245 ...
I understand this share is good and related to crude ,But can anyone tell me what to do I have same amount to average it out but dont know when to average...........

Cairn has a strong support at 225 and so do crude at 105 $. So i dnt think that of them would breach these levels. One can buy at current levels wid a target of 123 $.

Its production will start in mid 2009, so long time to go. Presently the valuations are just following crude prices (which ultimiately will determine how large profits are when production starts). So as crude goes down, this stock also goes down, this may continue till full production is reached. Thereafter it will settle down at some price which I expect to be much higher and then again follow the correlation with Crude from there. Other oil cos. are under losses as they have to bear the crude subsidy burden. So in their case if crude goes down, their losses comes down, hence their stock prices go up....

Why do u think that it will come down to 200 , it dsnt mean that a sharp fall in crude on 2nd september means that it is headed towards 100 $ and below . There may be reversal also. Crude mey go to 121 $ levels also. take care

boarders like u mislead and u shud not be allowed to post on this forum dnt MISLEAD ppl Cairn is not going to touch 2000 in 2010 also in the bnear term for traders this looks weak if crude continues to fall further...so 220 is a strong support level for this stock. so tat might be a good time to enter for long term investors these levels are also ok traders stay away for now as this might be headed in the 220 range soon if

Neppolian Pillai of Modern Shares & Stock Brokers is of the view that one can buy Cairn India at Rs 145. If crude does eventually go up there, Cairn should benefit, so Rs 266 will be the upside target today because crude was little bit soft yesterday.

Crude may bounce back from the current levels of 109 $ , as this is a majour support for crude . So dnt bet on cairn on buying it at 220 levels. It may rebound and trade to 275-280 levels if crude goes to 115-121 $ in short term.
