Trent Ltd. has informed the Exchange that the Board of Directors of the Company, at their meeting held August 12, 2008, have approved the Company entering into an association with Tesco Plc, UKs leading retailer, for the Companys Star Bazaar hyper market business which is carried on by Trent Hypermarket Limited (THL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. Under this association, THL will be entering into a franchise agreement with Tesco. This will facilitate access to Tescos retail expertise and technical know-how for operation of the hyper-market business. Separately, Tesco has plans to establish a wholesale cash and carry operation in India. THL will be entering into an arrangement for sourcing its merchandise from this wholesale operation to be established by a subsidiary of Tesco in India. Further, the Company has submitted a copy of press release in this regard titled "Trents Hyper Market Business to have an Association with Tesco of UK" shall be available on the NSE website (http://www.nseindia.com) under: Corporates > Latest Announcements and on the Extranet Server (/Common/Corporate Announcements). ...
