The thrill of gambling- ICICIDIRECT (26)   22-May-08 10:35Tracked by (0)

Many have said that trading in the stock markets is more akin to gambling:
- the lure of apparently easy money to be made.
- hoping that the next trade (bet) will make up all the previous losses.
- the thrill of a roller coaster ride.
- Most of all are the uncertainties of the next throw of dice.

If all these uncertainties and thrills do not suffice, then please open an ICICIDIRECT trading account and trade in the futures / margin trades in the cash segment. You can have the added uncertainty of availability of the site at crucial moments.

I once shorted RPL at around 200/- and in a short while the stock plummeted to 180; I tried to login to book profits, but fortunately the system was not available and as luck would have it I finally booked profits when RPL was at 160+; that was double profit. I went home smiling thanking God and ICICIDIRECT for this wonderful opportunity.

The saying that in the final reckoning the law of averages catches up with you proved true today. Yesterday evening I was long on the Nifty (actually Mini-nifty) futures @5123, which I thought was great price and had carried my position overnight. As luck would have it world markets mis-behaved yesterday and the stage was set for a gap down opening today. I tried to place my squareoff order today but found that though ICICIDIRECT was available, it was not showing any trades in the futures market even after the markets were open! Finally when I could get the prices the min-nifty was already down at 5050 levels.

Well what one made by luck one day one loses by ill-luck on another day. It happens. *sigh* :-/ This smiley is to be interpreted as a rueful smile.

Well who's ready for the thrill? If its you then drop into your neighborhood ICICIDIRECT office and sign-up.

Cheers

OT

PS: Seeing the plight of investors(?) like me losing money the public spirited ICICIBANK has mandated that the minimum balance for savings accounts should be Rs 10000/- wef from April, 2008.
