Dear Eshers,
Yes, makes sense. To book profits on the future prematurely is not a good idea as the sold put could cost a lot. Even i am expecting 3900-4000 pretty soon. The market movement in the last one month looks quite strange. If FIIs don't stop selling, don't think these levels can be sustained for too long.
Cheers

Dear Novice,
Most of these transaction would have been carried out on behalf of their clients.. So it need not be the same entity buying and selling.
Please read an article on how FIIs are using equity swaps for their clients now to trade in derivatives following the PN ban in todays ET.

Dear PremGhai
What you say may be true of day traders/FnO traders.. But when it comes to investments, it can be win-win... e.g. if i buy reliance from you today at 2300, assuming you had bought at 1600, you make a profit of 700 over a period of lets say 1 year... Now if Reliance keeps growing and performing, i will be able to sell reliance at lets say 3600 after 2 years... So we both make profits.. Thats the basis of publicly held businesses and stock investments.
