Dear pkjattking,

Just for clarification: I did not say Gold will come down to 400 level in couple of years.

What I mean was that Gold, Silver, Oil showed a good BULLish move in last couple of months.

BS experts including some so called boarders advised everyone to dump equity and wait for gold or oil to rise to invest! :)

If you look at the graph of Gold / Oil, you will see similar kind of pattern!

Just like Nifty or other index went to good heights in Jan during its BULLish times - 21000 level... Oil went close to 150 level with crazy target of 200 level... Gold went close to 1000 level with crazy target of 2000 level... now both oil and gold are going down! In my opinion, oil will be available under 100 soon... gold will be available under 750 level soon... Equity has started moving up in spite of all kind of BEARish BS stories! Remember some of the richest ppl on earth are richest due to equities worth, not due to gold... I am not aware of any richest GOLD billionaire. :)

We are at the right time in equity! YEN DOLLAR ratio improved. Smart PLAYED the GAME well in DOW yesterday! As Buffet says that stock market is designed to move money from active to passive! If people can wait for years in Gold, oil, silver, land, then why not equities. Once Nifty crosses 4650+ level, all those Genuine LT investors will be richly rewarded! :) :)

Anyway, GAME is SAME everywhere... Similar kind of BS views, similar kind of BS traps.. whether GAME is played in Gold Silver Oil Land Equity :) :)

Gud luk & happy investing! :)

Market value added (MVA) :

MVA. The difference between the market value of a firm and the capital contributed by investors. A higher MVA indicates that a company has added more value than what has been contributed to it by shareholders, while a negative MVA indicates that the company has destroyed value.

I would not put my money in SIP, But if your horizon is 20 years you can start it, I will put my money in good MF's when ever i see a decline in NAV's. But still I would prefer Stock investment myself rather than giving to the money manager....

Vam,

Yes many many many many small and medium sized companies can upgrade to dual technology now with the nuke deal.. i believe until then they had mono technology... this upgradation would mean good margin for most companies? I think this is the best time to invest in SIP... coz inspite of the recession india could show 8-9% growth...what do u say.. i am a little naive about these matters. I would put money in reliance growth from next month about 2k every month...

I am sure that India do not have such an aggressive attitude for the first use of Nuclear weapon against Pakistan or China. Why we have nuclear weapons is to keep ourselves evenly balanced with these neighbours in the defence front. Nucelar test is not the one to be conducted on a regular basis and as per my understanding, the huge area sorrounding the test arena cannot be inhabited for many many years and a country like Inida with huge population and deficit land area cannot affrod to sacrifice more of our precious land for test purpose. Even a single atomic weapon has immense distructive power and it is meaningless to pile up such weapons of mass distruction. ...

CHINA

Posted by : zoombusiness

The Chinese leadership has signalled its belief that India is a responsible nuclear power, which will never use its nuclear capability against China while supporting India\'s case at the Nuclear Suppliers Group, a senior expert at a government-run think-tank told TNN on Saturday. -

\"I hope the Indian leaders and the Indian people realise that China sincerely wants to improve relations between the two countries. This is a very big political decision of the Chinese leaders,\" Ma Jiali, research professor at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations said soon after the NSG announced its decision in Vienna.

Ma said China and India should now start a new dialogue focusing on ways to ensure non-proliferation of nuclear technology in Asia.

China\'s vote played a crucial role in helping India win the approval of the 45-nation NSG because several of its members looked at Beijing for advise on how to deal with this situation, sources in Beijing said.

Chinese experts believe the NSG decision will hugely impact the border negotiations between the two countries because it will result in India becoming a more advanced nuclear power. New Delhi should appreciate China\'s goodwill and take measures to settle the border row, they said.

Supporting India\'s case at the NSG meeting was a difficult decision for the top Chinese leadership who faced severe resistance from a section of the Communist Party and the military brass, another expert on international relations, who preferred anonymity, said.

The resistance was apparent in an article published in the People\'s Daily , the Communist Party mouthpiece, severely criticising the India-US deal.

\"There are hawks in every country and it is not always easy to win them over. This decision shows the commanding influence of the top leadership even in a highly sensitive issue like this,\" he said.

Ma and other experts feel the generally decision to back India\'s case will help build the right atmosphere for solving outstanding issues between the two nations including the border problem. China has been appreciative of India\'s approach towards pro-Tibet protesters during and after the Lhasa riots and at the time of the Olympic torch relay.

\"The time has come for China and India to sit down and discuss the Dalai Lama issue,\" Ma said. Beijing apparently expects India to reciprocate its goodwill expressed through the vote at the NSG meeting by helping it solve problems relating to Tibet, sources said.

China recognises the fact that the NSG decision will enable India to obtain nuclear technology and material from different countries across the world and further strengthen its technological base, Ma said.

In taking the decision to vote for the India, Beijing has taken into consideration the fact that it will impact its close relationship with Pakistan.

Islamabad has been urging Beijing to oppose India at the NSG because it has to fear most from India\'s nuclear strength. The Pakistan factor could be one reason why Ma suggested regulator dialogue on nuclear non-proliferation in Asia.

Earnings Report Strategy
(Long Strangle )

When the companies releasing their Quarterly earnings report you can use this strategy.

suppose the stock XYZ you are tracking is going to announce the results tomorrow, and trading 250 rs, you could think of buying slightly OTM call , slightly OTM Put.

say 260 CALL, 240 PUT. ( you can decide how many contracts )

so when the price announced tommorrow either the stock will Gap up or gap down according to the report.

If it's goes down Your calls will be worthless, and you can make money in PUTS, If it's goes up you can make money from calls.

make sure that when you are buying that you are not giving more premiums.

Happy options trading...

...

06 Sep 2008 23:59

The primary difference lies in the obligation placed on contract holders and writers. In a futures contract, the holder is obliged to buy (or sell) the underlying asset at a specific price at a specific future date. On the other hand, an option gives the holder the right but not the obligation to buy (or sell) the underlying asset at a specific price at anytime before the expiration date. Hence the term option and this option comes at a price in the form of a premium (specifically the time value of the premium).

As a result, while both buyers and sellers of futures contracts face the same amount of risk, sellers of options take on an additional volatility risk in exchange for a premium and this premium can be high if the underlying asset is perceived to be very volatile.
