I think that the 1st quarter results were not satisfactory, so the stock is not yet rising from its recent lows, will it fall further ?...

Has the company given preference shares by way of bonus ? Any kind of assurance, whether ordinary or preference shares, does not mean anything as long as it is not well supported by good company performance. The same company could have given 6:1 bonus, instead of simply 1:6 bonus, for giving bonus the company does not have to shelve out any cash. Sorry for my contradictory view point. ...

Whatever be the company's intention, what cash you got from the company or from the stock should be of importance to you, giving bonus does not mean anything unless it is well supported both by fine fundamentals and really promising returns. ...

I guess that by accumulating at lower and still lower prices you are trying to bring down your average price, the stock seems has not seen its bottom yet, so can fall further, therefore averaging does not look advisable. The current price is about 46% of its present book value, not a healthy sign. What is the promoter holding in the company ? What has been the company's and the stock's performance during the past 5-6 years ? I do not know exactly, but probably booking loss and re-investing in some fundamentally and technically sound stocks which are presently available at attractive prices may be an appropriate strategy. Please take your own decision. Sorry to discourage you on your earlier plan, frankly I do not see anything positive in this stock. ...

Now I wish to make it blend of everything with calculated risk. If not short term, make it long term, whatever it be make it. It may not be the best way to maximize gains, but it minimizes risk. With limited know how one cannot predict the market, while vast knowledge may not be possible / practicable, then why not fall in line with the market strategically. It is always trying what one thinks could be right. ...

Bharat Bijlee is not a bad company nor a bad stock as is being projected here. A company having good reserves and earnings, paying 300% dividend was impressive enough that many wise investors bought the stock at a much higher price when the market sentiment was very bullish. Lately the market sentiment has gone down and still going from bad to worse, during the period averaging down did not work adequately. The fundamentally sound company has comparatively a small equity base, that gives rise to a hope of the company announcing a liberal bonus at an appropriate time. The present market sentiment is so low that many best of the companies' stocks behave on the bourses the same way as Bharat Bijlee. In fact Bharat Bijlee has started looking up from its recent 52 week low and now sustaining well at current level for last few sessions. When the market sentiment improves this stock too would start rising to expected levels. I am sure that long term investors are least worried about the present under performance of the stock....
