Nicely put. Do u think that these politicians will do such work merely for the sake of development of the State? What disturbs me more is that atleast some major portion of the land for the proposed site of Nano Project in Pant Nagar will be acquired from the national-level famous Agricultural University in Pant Nagar. Do u think that the University was having surplus land that the students could not use for their studies there? ...

I differ with your saying - total dadagiri. Such dadagiri is not new to the stock market. The Centre started it, the States are following it. To quote, when Cemtral PSUs like ONGC/HPCL/BPCL/GAIL were asked to share subsidy burden, was it not dadagiri. When the Centre mooted proposal that private sector should implement reservations for SC/ST/OBC (even though the private sector came out with counter-proposal that they may instead ear-mark some profit instead of reservation), the politicians turned it down, was it not dadagiri. WHen the Centre turned blind eye/permitted sub-PLR interest rates for loans through PSU Banks for the big industrialists, even when the common man was forced to borrow at PLR or above rates, was it not dadagiri. When the Centre issued ordinance/enacted law restricting the margin in power trading by mere 2 paise or so (which killed movement in PTC shares), was it not dadagiri. Yes, what you said that Gujarat PSU may go down may come out true in the near short-term. ...

Thanks for reproducing the article in MMB for the benefit of readers. What I understand is in case Tata Motors Nano Project is moved out to Pant Nagar in Uttarakhand, some of the land belonging to the Pant Nagar Agricultural University will be given to them! That STate Govt. may come out with an explanation that the Agrl. University was having suprlus land and not required for the benefit of students! ...

ok, let the time tell. Some more points. Looking back to history, you may recall how fertile agricultural lands in the periphery of Delhi - Gurgaon - was acquired for Maruti Project thanks to Sanjay Gandhi, depriving the livelihood of farmers there. Secondly, what will be the traffic condition of roads (even now it is worse in many big cities) once 1 lac car hits the market. THirdly, can India continue to afford importing more crude for private vehicles(non-productive purpose). Fourthly, where is the land for parking more private vehicles especially in big cities. Fifthly, should Governemnts encourage production of more private vehicles (for instance, in Tamil Nadu, you have Hundai and another big company rolling out cars) rather than high-capacity public transport. Last but not the least, as an investor, should not we be worried on the ever-increasing funds raised by TATA group companies by way of loans/increased capital etc. ...

The revelations and what the Indian Prime Minister told the Parliament (read rediff article authored by Brahma Chellaney) are damning. Apparently, the Indian Prime Minister has lied to the Parliament. The fall of the Govt. in September itself is now a strong probability. Read this with the instructions sent by the Central Govt. for payment of arrears to serving staff/pensioners immediatley, which indicates the urgency. As you mentioned above, opportunities will throw up to pick Larsen on sharp dips. ...

Yes, you are correct that change in logo, especially by PSU undertakings, is a wasteful expenditure. If you can recall, even PNB did it some 5-8 years back when they changed the background of display boad and colour of their logo (logo colour changed from yellow to white and background of display board colour changed from white to red). Obviously, top-level officials of bank/Fin.Min. (majority control with Fin.Min.) would have improved their fin.status. ...
