I differ with your saying - total dadagiri. Such dadagiri is not new to the stock market. The Centre started it, the States are following it. To quote, when Cemtral PSUs like ONGC/HPCL/BPCL/GAIL were asked to share subsidy burden, was it not dadagiri. When the Centre mooted proposal that private sector should implement reservations for SC/ST/OBC (even though the private sector came out with counter-proposal that they may instead ear-mark some profit instead of reservation), the politicians turned it down, was it not dadagiri. WHen the Centre turned blind eye/permitted sub-PLR interest rates for loans through PSU Banks for the big industrialists, even when the common man was forced to borrow at PLR or above rates, was it not dadagiri. Looking back to history, you may recall how fertile agricultural lands in the periphery of Delhi - Gurgaon - was acquired for Maruti Project thanks to Sanjay Gandhi, depriving the livelihood of farmers there. Secondly, what will be the traffic condition of roads (even now it is worse in many big cities) once 1 lac car hits the market. THirdly, can India continue to afford importing more crude for private vehicles(non-productive purpose). Fourthly, where is the land for parking more private vehicles especially in big cities. Fifthly, should Governemnts encourage production of more private vehicles (for instance, in Tamil Nadu, you have Hundai and another big company rolling out cars) rather than high-capacity public transport. TATA\\`s dont pay bribe. now lets talk oint by point. if we have to expand we have to use land, either for housing or industry of anything else. whats the big deal about fertile land. from where this fertile land has come, by cutting the forests. so ideally one should stop even agricultre and return back to jungles. second -no one is depriving the livelihood of farmers, they are getting jobs and money both. and most of then do get options for another small businesses like tea stall , food and veg stalls. when you talk about traffic- its a problem of planning do not blame it on car companies. who stop you to make parking spaces. forget the old construction where is parking space in new construction. when each single inch will be sold as gold why govt is silent on builders loot. why not make a rule that everylocality will have huge underground parking before builder start selling projects. fourth-- crude or no crude. evey citizen has a right to provide a mode of transport to himself and his family. why not blame govt for having so poor infrastructure. god forbid you and your daughter need to travel in buses in metros. first thing you will think buying a nano. yes govt should promote more production without fail but also ensure more local trains and buses, people should have choices.you will see people are not using cars due to choices but forced to do so. fundraising in company issue and you can take a decision based on present law. my dear seeing your sun full of sweat in rajasthan and drenched in delhi will make you feel to buy a car for him. reading molestations in buses will force you to think the same. its too easy to criticize but things do not sell if demand is not there. so work on something to reduce the demand dont try to be communist by banning them....

To chchch You are perfectly correct. There are two points.1.land and 2.TATAs. All others are players. If the Govt is approached for a project, they must consider a level play ground for the supply and demand for the needs of the people and the requirements of the industry. It is a fact several lands were taken over by the auto industries at several states and unfortunately at Tamilnadu, one industry--Standard Motors was allowed to wind up and the land was sold for retailers. Here the land for Tata was assured and could not be provided. The difficulty could have been well told to the industrialits,whether it is Tata or others. Or advised them to prune the project or to seek some other place at some other state.That was not done.The delay costs much to the country as a whole. As regards land,it is the contant-figure as area-wise for the availability. The baron land is not at all alloted by the Govt. for various political pressure. Each Govt. should see all districts are getting good industries to give employment for the people,local and state-wide. Why should Chennai alone is offered for FII investments? Capital. Instead, in the 26-page response to Congressional queries, the administration (and not President Bush specifically) has in effect assured the late Congressman Tom Lantos, who died of cancer in February this year, that any Indian test would compel the administration to act as per the provisions of the Hyde Act (named after the Lantos' colleague Henry Hyde, who also passed away in November last year) and cease nuclear cooperation with India. Responding to 45 technical questions posed by members of House International Relations Committee, of which Lantos was the chairman, a senior administration official specifically addressed the contentious issue of fuel supply, which is India's bugaboo given past record of mistrust on this subject between the two countries. New Delhi has sought iron-clad guarantees that fuel supplies will not be interrupted in the event of an Indian nuclear test. The letter says the United States would help India deal only with "disruptions in supply to India that may result through no fault of its own," such as a trade war or market disruptions. "The fuel supply assurances are not, however, meant to insulate India against the consequences of a nuclear explosive test or a violation of nonproliferation commitments," the letter said.
